This popped up on one of my youtube feeds today and impressed me. It's a fan film of Grindelwald and Dumbledore.

The acting is pretty damn good, and the special effects are pretty awesome. I think the battle needs more transfiguration, but its pretty damn sweet. Much better than most fan made films.

It looks like if they get enough views/support, they may make more of the story.

Um... meh. The acting, frankly, is a step above mediocre - my middle school did work about as realistic as this. The special effects aren't bad, and the lack of transfiguration I can forgive on the basis that it's probably much harder to do good CGI for that rather than just random bolts of light.

But, seriously, do these people realize you can't block/counter/interact with the killing curse using magic?

A bit of a cheesy, straightforward interpretation of how things supposedly went down, but yes, that was good. Effects were palatable and acting and script were a cut above what you'd expect.

    Edit:
I think they were maybe under the impression that priori incantem works for anyone, due to the similar movie effect between Dumbledore and Voldemort in OoTP right as their duel begins.

The guy playing Gellert is worth all the monies in the world. The rest were okay-ish.

The biggest setback for this is that they couldn't afford/didn't know how to make good enough CGI, like affecting the landscape, etc.

The acting was like drama school students trying to do Shakespeare. And the awful fake accents were painful.

I'll agree it's better than most fan films, but that's not a particularly high standard.

Yeah acting was cringe worthy at times. Not at all natural.

And I didn't like the way they played out the scene, they played it out with hindsight. Aberforth didn't want to kill Gilert, he didn't know shit about what they had planned.

Aberforth went after Gillert for being a douche and Gillert went after him for holding Albus back, Albus tried to hold both back.

Its a good amature attempt, but nothing amazing.

Also I am fucking hating that in the movies and fan films wizards just wear normal cloths, Wizards wear fucking robes.

Quite good for a fan film. My expectations were low but it turned out to be entertaining.

Not like I would have imagined it, but then again I'm not the one making movies ;)

Still, they get points for actual effort.

EDIT: Okay, no need for me to be a douche about it. I'll comment again when I've sat down to watch the fan film and not bitch about the comments.

Couldn't really get into it, honestly. The acting was fairly bad, I didn't like their interpretation of events, and placing the entire thing on the beach seemed a very odd choice, since I'm fairly sure the entire conflict should have taken place in the Dumbledore house.

Well... this isn't very good. I don't know what I was expecting. Probably exactly what I got. They're all bad at all the things they're trying to do.

It was "okay". CGI was alright. I was expecting Albus to be Transfiguration master.
