So far, the book club's done Newcomb's What You Leave Behind and echtelion3's Prisoner's Cipher. Leaving aside the disappointing reaction the latter got, it's time for another vote to decide which fic we'll be reading next.

I vote for OTWTG because that's the only one on the list I haven't read within the last year. I've actually got length reviews for both denarian and long journey home, so that would almost be like cheating

 

This is a tough one, I voted Rakeesh's if only because I think it's the second or third best piece of fanfiction around.

 

I only ever read the first few chapters of Renegade because it's fucking horribly, terribly written. HPMOR makes a better first impression.

Yet I keep seeing it recommended even today, when I thought the fandom (or at least people here and at r/HPfanfiction) have moved away from awful shit and towards the standards exhibited by Joe, Newcomb, and Taure. I keep seeing claims that it has a supposedly great Dumbledore and epic fights. So, if it wins, I will slog through it. And if I do not see the epic stuff that people describe, I will be as vehement in calling it shit as I am with MOR.

I've been a little while into Forests for years now, having quietly enjoyed it but always with something else robbing my attention. Maybe this will be the motivation to finish it.

I promise if Denarian Renegade wins that I will never read it.

 

"On the Way to Greatness." Hopefully this pays off with her following Newcomb's example. Koselig, koselig! Besides, I read the Denarian series in the spring, and The Forests in the summer.

 

@BTT For the next bookclub, I want to recommend "The One He Feared" by Taure. Maybe, us choosing it will give him the kick in the ass he needs to continue the fic.

Also y'all, I just read forests a couple days ago, and while it's awesome, I don't think it's time for a reread just yet.

And I agree with @ScottPress that Denarian does a terrible job with getting readers interested.

 

@Taure why not man? Such a good idea for a fic, and it's being wasted. People actually like your shit. You should update.

 

Maybe write something yourself instead of demanding others to do it for you.
