Is there a fanfic like that? It seems like a great idea, anyway, if it doesn't exist, I'll write one.

Well, bringing Voldemort in front of everyone, Fudge will not doubt Dumbledore and Harry, and it would be interesting to see the reaction of Dumbledore and those present to see Harry being tortured and still dueling Voldemort.

Then you say, "Oh, but Dumbledore is going to stop Harry from dueling Voldemort, is he?"

But Voldemort can launch a barrier, which will prevent anyone from getting in or out of it

 

Seems like you have a lot of answers to the long, long of buts (heh) that such a scenario would produce. Not to mention how exactly Harry is supposed to do that.

Maybe you should write your thoughts out. Some of the best fanfiction has come out of looking for a cool idea, being disappointed that nobody's done it, then resolving to do it yourself.

 

Voldemort getting fooled into being taken by the Portkey is a moderately interesting idea. He would be unable to apparate on Hogwarts grounds, and Dumbledore would be able to land in a good few DoM style bitch slaps quite publicly. Voldemort would thus begin the second war on a serious back footing. No azkaban breakout, no background support, and the very public knowledge that Dumbledore is the better wizard. It would make him more desperate, more dangerous in a way.

No. Fudge and Dumbledore would not sit and watch Harry "duel" him. Herry's heroism in that scene is a moral heroism, not anything more.

 

I assumed he meant to go for a darker story in which Voldemort publicly isolates Harry in a barrier, tortures and kills him? Because that's the only scenario other than 'Dumbledore breaks through the barrier within 5 seconds and saves Harry'.

Be interesting to see how the rest of the story would shake out.

 

Yeees, Voldemort tortures Harry in front of everyone, and in the end forces Harry to fight him, Harry fights, of course, but obviously he loses. Voldemort throws "avada kedavra" at Harry, at that moment the piece of Voldemort's soul trapped in Harry leaves.

Voldemort thinking that Harry is dead removes the barrier and takes another portkey and runs away with the fake Moody (err, moody fake made the portkey and ran away with his master.)
