I think someone actually was going to try to do this sort of thing in the Evangelion Fandom several years ago. I'll be honest, I tried out for it. But never saw anything more then a, if you want to give it a go then send us a clip, sort of thing.

I am definitely not going to mention the ongoing project to make an audiobook of a certain highly-reviewed fanfic-that-must-not-be-named. Nosiree. Not touching it.

Yeah, well all of this discussion about sound-effects and different voice actors for different characters is pretty much the definition of radio drama.

Audio books, in my experience, is just one narrator reading the content aloud.

When I brought this up, I was thinking of a single person reading it aloud. Like, y'know, an audio book. Although different voice actors for characters and effects could be a nice touch, it's far more effort than it could ever be worth, when one person with talent could pull it off a hundred times more easily, and without all the technical hassle of putting things together.

I do have access to professional equipment for every form of media, though. All part and parcel of being a student at a creative arts university.

tldr: The means to make it happen is there, just not the audience for it. I'm happy to assist in any projects that people want to start, but be aware that you're doing it for yourself/selves, and it won't be widely recieved before choosing to start something.

Still need a voice actor, no matter what. A decent narrator, blah blah blah. I'd be interested in being involved, but I'm pretty sure, as CareOtters said, this is at best a niche sorta thing.

I could narrate, but my accent is so damn thick sometimes, people would have a hard time understanding me.

Might be interesting if we need someone who can sound like Sean Conary then.

Not a problem, sir. Not a problem at all... Though he might sue me...

EDIT: I think, if we do this, it'll be great promotional material for all you folks that need it. Posting it on YouTube would get us a decent number of views if the story is hot. The narrator can put the name of the site in the beginning, along with the narrator/voice actor(s) and, of course, the author of the work itself. We could mention the C2 and the anthology as well.

Don't need multiple voices for audio books. Theoretically it ought to just be one person reading the story, preferably without multiple voices because it's annoying as shit.

I got myself an audiobook of TNoTW a while back, although I have not listened to the whole thing (28 hours roughly), it has got one guy who can speak different voices. He is the one doing narration as well.

The first chapter of the Wastelands would be seriously fucking hard. With all of the quotations, interjections and other bullshit that Joe sprinkled all over the place :p

BTW, recorded my voice reading Contemplating Clouds and listened back. I suggest you guys do the same. (For lulz)

You know those stories on ff.net that have each chapter as a self-contained, short story? One of them would do well for a short 'series', and after things get settled with production/the set-up, a major, multi-chaptered storyline would be next.

Can't run before you can crawl.

If done well, it would also be seriously fucking awesome. ;)

But yeah, I think that trying an easy third person one shot would be nice.

I think I'll do the first chapter of Burn Baby Burn by Dark Syaoran... that is, as soon as I get a mic in this bitch... and if I get his permission.

I doubt that will be much of a problem, well maybe first year fics will be but I'm pretty sure that there are quite a few people under twenty in the forum.
