I go over to fanfiction.net try sorting by harry potter, all ratings, +10000 words. Majority of stories that turn up are slash. I then try +20000.....+100000. Same result. My question is why isn't there a filter for slash/non-slash stories?

Because the guys who made FF.net didn't make one.

Also, this is a stupid thread.

A contact of mine asked why there can't be a slash filter to admin over there. They told him to stop being homophobic.

And yeah, this thread is sort of stupid. Everyone already knows.

    Simple.

    (1) Fanfiction.net is the most accessible and most popular site for fan fiction.

    (2) Mostly fan-girls tend to write fan fiction among more popular fandoms

    (3) Fan girls tend to have a fondness for slash

Take (1), (2), and (3), and you have a tendency to see a lot of slash on fanfiction.net.

I don't actually mind slash in fandoms which canonically have slash in the first place - but, except for Dumbledore/Grindelwald, I can't remotely see how you could make slash in the Potterverse without going massively out of character. I think there was only a few HP slash stories I liked, if only because the quality of plot, characterization, action, and writing vastly outweighed the negatives.

Try having the age restriction from K to T. There will still be slash, but the odds will be better.

But, most of the good stories are rated M! :(
