Obviously I'm not even close to being the most accomplished or prolific writer on this site (I don't have any runaway hits like the Santi or Roarian), but the first story I have ever posted just crossed the one million view mark, which is pretty sweet. It's just a shame that it's a steaming pile of shit.

I've also trimmed down some of my posted works, removing most of my one chapter non-oneshots that had no hope of ever being continued so it's not as bloated as it used to be. My profile does get linked a fair bit of hits though since it's a how-to of what not to write.

It's interesting comparing my own story stats to the previous one I posted, since the word count has changed in some of the stories despite the story not actually changing, indicating a change in actual ffn formating. You can notice it with "A Sense of Purpose" - nothing new posted, heck, only 2 reviews in 3 years, but it somehow lost 800 words.

My total words archived in the last 3 years is a bit low of what I've actually written. It suggests I've published only 100k since the last update in this thread, but my actual written word count is probably close to a million words, maybe more. My google docs is up to 200k, and I haven't posted a single thing from it, and I've only been using google docs for maybe 3 months.

The next update probably won't be until my next milestone, whatever that happens to be - maybe 1000 reviews for a story, but that would mean I would actually have to post something.

 

Been awhile since anyone has posted here, but I figure it makes more sense to necro this thread rather than start anew. Perhaps some others will see this thread for the first time and chime in. Anyways, just had my OG shitty fic hit 2 million views.



Few cool things to look at. For example "A sense of purpose" has managed exactly 101 views in a 5 year, 3 month period. Guess that story would have been better for FictionPress itself. Also, in the previous post, I was expecting my next milestone to be 1000 reviews. Well, that isn't even close to happening still, which is kind of weird. Three factors to that is my guess. One, is that I'm not that active/prolific enough to get enough attention. Second, is that my writing isn't good enough to warrant 1000 reviews on anything. Third is that the fandom itself, while still the largest, isn't as active as it once was. Only other weird thing is how Euphoria has a criminally low amount of C2 inclusions. 26 C2's for a story that is Harry/Fleur, Complete, and greater than 100k words. There was a stretch of two years where that was literally the only story on the website with those conditions (though admittedly some of that is due to it actually being tagged as a pairing, which is relatively new tech on the website that most authors don't go back to update).

-edit- I just want to point out a few more things. The story "you can't take the sky from me" is currently the only story of mine in the DLP c2 (both incarnations) so you can see the kind of boost in numbers I've gotten from that. Second, the numbers for "portage to the unknown" are pretty crazy, and I hadn't really noticed that until just now. Goes to show that there's a looot of demand for HP/SW fics, and not enough supply. Fic is only 1.5 years old too. - end edit-

Not very interesting. Been posting on FFN for about 10 years, so not terribly surprising that the list numbers doubled after double the time has passed. It does mean that I really need to put more effort into actually writing things that are publishable rather than having dozens of 20k+ ficlets just rotting on my gdocs. Mostly just got it into my mind to just stop posting fics I know I'm never going to finish. That lasted for about a year while I wrote Euphoria, but I broke that rule with "portage to the unknown"

Might be worth a minute or two to see my actual DLP wba stats, since most of that stuff never makes it to FFN. SB stat is currently one fic @43k words with 12.5k views, which is statistically irrelevant compared to the amount I've posted here.

I'd be interested to see the stats on some of the massively popular stories from back in the day.

Still, 1,752 reviews, and the other stats, for a 48,757 word story reasonably impressive.

 

Most of that is just because of the age of the story. I still get about 1 review per month for that story.

 

3 million hits and 5500 faves is very impressive, especially considering you don't have a huge following from other stories.
