    :::

    Hits to profile have slowed down considerably, most likely due to the removal of the reccomended stories, the H/Bella cookie, and the lengthy like/dislike list with reccomended stories.

    Don't fret.

    Reviews are not a way to measure quality.

    I will add though that reviews tend to come more often for stories that consistently update. They show up better as FFNet ranks stories by Update Date, hence making stories that have been updated recently higher on Favorite's Lists, Searches, and browsing.

    Virus?

    A good "Format C:" in DOS will take care of anything.

    The first time I got one I let my cousin who works for IBM borrow the hardrive and clean everything up. If you don't mind losing the files on your computer format the hardrive.

    I use my grandparents computer. They think I somehow caused the virus and have forbidden me from using it. Its gotten to the point where Im going to probably end up sending small bits of it to a friend, give them my password, and have them post it. Not a smart idea though. And I miss writing like I miss My destroyed copy of Halo 2. Plus more than half of my reviewers are probably off reading something better. Damn... I mean, at this point, im so desperate to continue HCHP, I would sell my soul to Ginny....

    My dad would be able to clean the harddrive, but I don't want him finding what caused the virus. Is there a way to permanately delete your temporary interenet files? I've heard that even if you clear your history and delete them that people can still find them. So you see I am in a little bit of a fix here.

    Here's a post on keeping your computer running like new. It's generally correct, but I don't reccomend doing a registry scan every day.

    http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=151814

    ::

    As for getting rid of a virus, there is no definite solution for all viruses. If you follow the guidelines in the above article, you shouldn't ever have to deal with a virus/malware.

    But if you do, try installing Mcafee Viruscan. Most of the time, this won't work as the virus destorys that too, but it's worth a try.

    If that doesn't work, do a Mcafee Online scan [Free] and try to find the name of the virus. With that info, you can research methods of extermination.

    If all else fails and you really need to keep the files, take the hard drive off of it and hook it up to a system with robust virus protection. Clean it up via that.

    Beyond that, it's just 'Format C:'.

    ::

    Download Ccleaner at http://www.ccleaner.com/download/

    Use it to clean up history/temp files/etc. Very useful in privacy.

    Edit: Never mind I figured it out. Thanks for all the help everyone, and sorry about the umm... disruption. *Goes off to bash head on the wall.*

    I know it's off topic, but it's important.

    http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/clean1.html

    ^That will give you a nice definitive guide on how to do a clean install of Windows with an upgrade disk of Windows XP.

    http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/clean_install.htm

    ^This is another, more all-situation time guide.

    Format C: is a command in MSDOS that will, well, format your hard drive. Isn't used that commonly anymore due to easier methods of doing a clean install.

    REMEMBER: Install an Anti-Virus program with a firewall before you go online. The Anti-Virus must be registered if you want updates.

    I decided to stick this thread, because I agree with nonjon and MS about this thread being important enough. Cheers.
