My last chapter had the first real fight of the story and I have 280 hits and 8 reviews for it so far. This is a much better rather that my previous chapters. Do chapters with action normally get a higher review percentage than others?

I find that they do. Chapters that invoke emotions generally pull the most reviews whereas those that don't (in other words, filler chapters) should expect to get a lot more. However, it could be that the review rate is just inbcreasing naturally as your story is getting longer. A lot of people don't read fics shorter than a certain length, of course.

Yeah, it was the same for me. This last chapter of Chimera has a TON of reviews...I've got some 78 reviews fr it, and its only on about 5000 hits or so.

But that might have been because of the cliffhange ending as well...

The only thing I have to say about my stats is that I'm surprised about my stats for Glass Wings. I really only put that out on a whim, and fully intended to delete it after a few days, maximum. Imagine my surprise when I logged in the next morning and found 20 reviews posted after only eight hours! I was shocked as hell, you can believe that.

Personally, I don't know which gets the most as some of my action-oriented chapters (some with a major death) do not recieve nearly as many reviews. And then recently for the second chapter from the end I only have 21 reviews, which is way lower then norm... personally, I wonder why I bother since most of those on Fanfic have been so ungrateful and rather mean-spirited. I am so sick of the reviews that say 'Kurinoone is better' or 'Darkness Within is better'. Absolutely, sick...

    Better than mine at least.

That has to be the shittiest review to hit rate ever.

    I'm in 1 or 2 slash C2's as well.

6 reviews for 2723 hits? 0.22% review rate. I'm sure we can find much worse than that.

Let's see my worst fic ratio is 140 reviews for 111364 hits. That's a 0.1257% review rate. And it's on 13 more C2's than it has reviews. And it's on 91 more favorites pages than it has reviews.

I'm sure we can find worse. Who's got a worse review/hits ratio?

Heh. That would be me. ^^

Young Again: The Rewrite has 187,213 hits with 1453 reviews.

    1453 / 187213 = 0.00776% review rate

    lol.

EDIT: or not. *sigh*. my math's wrong. I forgot to multiply by a hundred, thus the percent. I can only blame the late night. So: .776% review rate

I have, as of now, written no stories, though I might in the near future. I am a far better archivist/beta than I am writer. However I do have my C2 group which is 28 Staff, 564 Stories, and 1089 Subscribers making it the Number 1 group when rated by Subscirbers. The only group to date over 1000 subscribers, I am rated 53 in Archive, and 9 in staff count. Strangely enough, even though I have no written work I appear on the favorites list of 13 people, and even more strangely, the alerts list of 2 people.

Liath I did the exact same thing. Sorry Nonjon forgot to multiply and got .002 review rate and I was like there is NO way anyone has a worse review rate than that.:wall: Sometimes I hate being stupid.

    Hmmm...

    With 1638 hits and 12 reviews I have a rate of 0.73%
Flame rate = 0% despite that I allow anonymous reviews.
Hits for the story doubled since I submitted the last chapter as I passed 10.000 words. A lot of people seem to filter ff.net by story-length.

The first chapter is online at two other archives for six weeks now:
    FictionAlley: 460 hits / 2 reviews = 0.43 %
    HP-Fanfiction.com: 14 hits / no review = 0.0%

It matches my own experience as reader of HP-Fanfiction.com. Over there it is an even bigger problem to find the stuff you're interested in than at ff.net. One who writes for an only small group of fans won't get many readers there.

It's basic economics... what you want (and in DLP, we usually want the same thing: original fanfiction with darkish themes) is important. If you manage to get your ideas the way you like them, and the way other people would like them, then you're fine.

Then you add the plot twists and zany ideas, and you've got a hell of a masterpiece. Like jbern's Bungle in the Jungle. We wanted something different- something gory, with original processes for old things, and new things altogether. And Dark magic.

Voila- really good fic, really popular fic, lots of positive reviews. It's all about that. And then you have to think about your marketing abilities. How long it is is usually a primary factor in the selection of fics to read; so is the summary, and title. At ff.net, the only thing we can see are the a) title, which can hook us or not, b) the summary- which is perhaps the most important. c) review count, says how popular the fic is, d) review content- if it's just flames, then it's prob. not that good, and e) fic length; different lengths appeal to different groups of people.

    Anyway. Updated stats for Immortal.

*Blushes in embarassment at Lutris implying my stuff is a masterpiece.* Thanks though. It's good, but the true test is whether it continues to stay good. I give credit to Nonjon for alot of the recent uptick in my review percentage. He told me that people decide usually in the last 4 paragraphs whether or not they are going to review your chapter. As a result, I have took a hard look at how I finish off each chapter and my ratio of reads to reviews is much better for it. I am slightly better than 1 review for every 100 hits (not counting the overinflated numbers for chapter 1 of each fic.) The other thing I do to encourage people to review is I respond to every review I get (even the simple update soon crowd and the Tridentwatches out there). I get alot of repeat reviewers that way.

    Here are my latest stats

Words 192558 (Good God! I've only covered a little over a month in this story!)

Its the same problem for me, JBern, in both my fics I've covered no time at all.

Chimera's doing quite well, got lots of reviews and lots of hits, but only 2 weeks have passed in 70K words. Heh...I remember when Chimera had a minor victory in ahving more reviews on FicWad thatn TFTCD did :p Now you've got me by some 80 reviews or so...BUT I WILL HIT BACK! :p

Incubus...one weekend has passed in 50K words >_< Still, its doing fine for a smutfic, especially one that isn't updated that regularly.
