For those of us who were into the fandom before the series finished. Can anyone recall a piece of fanfcition that either totally or very closely guessed something that happened in canon?

Not something basic and vague like Snape being "good", fandom seemed to be split 50/50 on that so you had a pretty good chance of guessing.

Something specific. Like the location of the Horcruxes, the existence of the Hallows, Dumbledores and Grindelwalds past ect.

I can't remember any off the top of my head but I know when reading OotP onwards there were several moments in the books where I recalled reading something very similar in fanfiction.

 

I can't recall anything that specifically accurate. Maybe something about Dumbledore and Grindelwald being friends, or vague concepts similar to Horcruxes but not quite that. Certainly nothing like the Hallows, that came from nowhere.

 

I seem to recall a fic that guessed that the "tarnished tiara" that Harry uses in HBP to mark where he left the potion's book would be (1) a Horcrux and (2) an object of Ravenclaw's. But I couldn't possibly remember which story. But I do remember the author's note crowing about it being a little excessive. Like there might have been one at the top of the page and then another in the middle of the text where it happened?

 

I'm desperately trying to remember the name of it, but I definitely read a fic where the author correctly guessed Snape was in love with Lily and had stopped being a Death Eater for that reason. I think a few people had guessed that, but I remember this particular one being eerily accurate. It was on Mugglenet if anyone else remembers.

 

That's a pretty fucking amazing guess.

I'm not even sure fics between HBP and DH got any of the horcrux locations right.

You would ahve thought after the concept of horcruxes was revealed someone would have guessed a location.
