Aside from my sis, who reads fanfiction too, no one knows I read them. And I intend for it to stay that way.

But fanfiction is a bit of a stopgap phase for me. I generally only start reading them when my social life is a bit on the low side, or if I do not have any good books to read at the moment. Once things get busier, or a good read comes along, then the phase is over. And so on, and so forth.

 

Eh, I disagree. I don't think I've read a fic in about 6 months now. The only thing I really have to do with it now is coming here, and that's just cause of the lulz and IRC.

It's private for me. I suspect my parents know since I sometimes accidentally leave open the browser window with a story, but they've never mentioned it and I certainly won't.

My ex-gf knew I read fanfiction, but she also enjoyed fanfiction... sad thing is, the stupid bint enjoyed some kind of anime slash fics... urghs. No wonder it didn't work, lol.

 

I've probably said it earlier in the thread, but yeah, apart from my sister who also reads the occasional fanfiction, no one knows. I imagine most people would consider it the epitome of nerdiness.

I used to keep my love of fan fiction private. Then I let it slip one day and it wasn't a big deal. I'm such a geek anyways that it wasn't a huge shock. Granted, I don't go around boasting about reading it.

I have one friend who I know currently reads HP fan fiction. Unfortunately, he ships Ginny/Snape. Ew. He recommended a few fics to me, and I tried to read one... then I vomited a little in my mouth and we never spoke of fan fiction again.

Maybe don't ask, don't tell is a good way to go about it?

Indeed, there are. He is a 20 year old Music/Bio/English major and well-known overachiever. If it helps he was raised by lesbians so he is more feminine than many other guys.
