You've missed some of my most hated.
Any travel to alternate realties where James and Lily are alive, and Harry just wakes up there one day.

Letters from the dead that just happen to have all the answers.
    Nice Durselys.

I read one where Dudley reformed after the whole Dementor incident--it was done well enough, and it helped that they all died, relatively quickly.

I hate reading about Hermione. At this point, can any of us really stand her? No one is able to make her seem like a bookworm in a good way, and any time she's written as anything else, it just comes off as OOC. I've read good Ron, Neville, hell, even a few good Ginny's, but not Hermione.

I don't like her because she represents what Harry can (in canon) never become . She always knows the answer to any of life's problems and in doing so, makes Harry look more like a loser than he already is.

I also don't like Hermione because too many authors equate knowledge to power and skill. That is, because she ate a library in preschool means that she is Uber!Dueler and can pwn any ward she comes across.

I like bookworm!Hermione. When she finds out that knowledge isn't everything and gets her ass strung up in the middle of Diagon Alley anyways.

It's a major cliche. But, moving on. Once again, not really a plot idea, but I HATE IT. With much passion.

'Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.'

This is the worst, most un-canon like line ever created. Who the FUCK came up with it? Why does every other author feel like they should incorporate it into their stories? Do they think it's FUNNY?!?

That saying is actually a very, very old one that has nothing to do with Harry Potter directly. It's just a cheesy little saying that people have been using for years that many authors toss in for kicks. It's humor value is a little on the low end these days as it doesn't involve swear words, death, or Anti-Christian sentiment.

Of course, there might be some who don't get it. It's a play on words you see. "Denial" = "De Nile" or "The Nile" aka the longest river in the world located in Egypt. Thus the cheesy way of teasing someone who is in denial over something.

Yes, it's corny, but it's usually a little better than, "Christ Potter, you're so far in denial it's pathetic" or some such plain-jane comment.

The line's an over used one. And what's more, it's incredibly OOC. I can't imagine any of those in the HP-verse actually using it. And because it's a popular phrase to use, it clearly falls in the 'pop-culture' category of things that you should NOT include in fanfiction.

Kind of like using God in canon or something.

I always hated the fics where Harry asks "God" for something, usually after being beaten, then his magic responds and he ends up going to church.

It has happened. Behold, one of the pioneers of a genre, a post epilogue Harry Potter Fanfiction!

My vote- kill it, before it infects others.

Isn't there some sort of 5 day "cooling off" period for the series before people begin the horrible "TeddyLupin/MarySue" crap?

There were AS/S fanfics being written before the book was actually released. But don't worry, the real crap should be coming in three or four days- the retards who write it can't read, so they have to have it read out loud to them. That explains the grammar/spelling in some of those stories, imo.

Teddy Lupin is going to be raised by his domineering grandmother. Combine that with the fact that he's gonna be part-werewolf (or something), I see a new Neville Longbottom in the making.

Honey, I'm not sure if you noticed, but in Deathly Hallows, Harry is Jesus.
