    * prayerfully *
It HAS to be a troll. No other explanation is acceptable.

    * sigh *
The reason for the ordinary rules of grammar is that those rules make the essay Easier To Read And Understand. High school English teachers willingly throw their lives into the noble cause, improving communication (and, therefore, life) for everyone. Using Text-messaging-style when it isn't compelled by the medium is counterproductive. It does NOT make the author fashionable, "edgy," or cool. It certainly does not make the author effective.

    Frenzie Challenge (G) by dreamwind | Reviews - 3 | Words: 170 | Completed: No

A challenge all about Frenzie, our favorite Centaur.
    Chapters: 1 Published: 2008.03.03
    Category: Slash > Male/Male Updated: 2008.03.03
Warnings: Contains Slash Sex Genres: Angst/Tragedy, Romance, Action/Adventure
    Characters: Other

    1. Must be about Frenzie
    2. Multi chapter fic (no less than 5 chaps!)
    3. If any romance or sex it should be slash (all kinks welcome)

    Plot:
What if Frenzie wasn't a natural centaur. What if a human (muggle or squib)was creating centaurs and other mythical creatures to sell on the black market and Frenzie was one who had escaped? Are any of the other characters that have been used or are going to be used as test subjects? What happened to the scientist? Has he kidnapped anyone else to use as a centaur or other creation?

Slash with a misspelled-name centaur - This one will be worth noting on a bathroom wall.

You know that's a challenge, not a fic?

    And having read it, wow.

"What if a human (muggle or squib)was creating centaurs and other mythical creatures to sell on the black market and Frenzie was one who had escaped?"

Creating centaurs to sell them on the black market. Well, that's original.

I didn't figure anyone would mind me posting the summary of a challenge. The challenge mandates really sucky summaries; there's no way out of it. I see no reason to wait 'til AFTER a story is written to sneer at it.
Besides, HOW could you expect me to let that one go by without comment?

I wouldn't, but I usually just look at the updated stories on that site searching for good gen fics. Granted, they aren't posted there much...

Hi, thanks for the comments on my story! I'm not sure how it "fails," though. The choice to set it outside of Britain, and not use any of the original characters, was deliberate, so it hardly failed to accomplish what I intended. Of course, it might fail to be a good story. That can only be decided by the reader. Certainly I understand why one might fear to find a Mary Sue. But I hope you don't assume a character is a Mary Sue just because she's not Harry Potter. ;)

I think you'll find that the majority of the people on this site will dislike any non-Harry based fic. I wouldn't consider it a personal attack upon your writing, it just doesn't comply with this community's tastes.

Although, I haven't read it, so it may be a personal attack upon your writing.

Totally agree with enembee. I myself hate fics which are not Harry-centric and tend to avoid them. Not to say that your fic mightn't be good, just that I would say that not too many people care to read about OCs.

Also I find it a bit amusing that you created your account merely for saying that.

    Anyways back on topic:
Once again we have a troll.... Or a retard who failed at English.

@Inverarity: Signing up for the sole purpose of responding to a post about your story?

Bad form, my friend. Bad form. Stop Googling yourself.

Regarding your story, though, I wouldn't count it as a HP fic if there's no Harry Potter canon characters in the story. You're basically saying the only way that your story relates to HP is through the use of Rowling's magic, which I will call a 'tool' for argument's sake. That's like saying Mission Impossible:II is HP canon compliant because Ethan Hunt, like Sirius Black and Hagrid, uses the same tool - in this case, a Triumph motorcycle. Or that Superman and Ironman are part of the same universe because they both use the same tools - superpowers through unusual means, gaining power from the sun, and saving people.

Your story is a story about magic that happens to use Latin-based spells and creatures that are collectively found in HP (but also extant in other fictional literature/lore. Rowling isn't that creative). It is not HP canon compliant.

It's got stronger ties to Rowling's world than that. It's canon compliant in that everything that happened in Rowling's books informs and motivates what happens in the story, even if not directly. Superman and Ironman being in the same universe would of course be non-canonical, but a story set in a corner of the DC universe never mentioned in the comics, where canonical DC superheroes are only mentioned obliquely, could be.

As for Googling myself -- c'mon, tell me you never do that. ;)

I don't blame the person who mocked my cover image, though. I like to think I'm a passably good writer, but I have no illusions that I'm a good graphic artist.

    Best smilie ever.

At Inverarity, no one really cares what is going on the part that the books never mention, unless it has Harry Potter in the area. This is how I feel anyway.

Unfortunately I don't have a link for this, but just the Summary is worth it alone, IMO:

Of course not....I dont assume anything. The sky is blue. Bush is a dick. Ron is a failure. Your fic is Mary-sue. Those are some of the many set in stone facts that make up the world.

The fact that you joined up to attempt a logical bitch-fest amuses me.

    :stained

    EDIT: Senor Draco........that's fuckin strange.

    Potter Law Numero Uno:

That is why your fiction, even if it is more fantastic than Denarian Knight, Oedipus Flower, and Make a Wish combined is so failtastic.

    Harry Potter.

    That is all.

Back on topic (to a certain degree) someone should make a 'worst summaries' c2 at FF.net. Maybe not limit it to Harry Potter?

The problem is, this thread is for the DLP'ers - and we aren't exactly mainstream.
