It's nice that the worst clichés are already listed in the summary. So nobody has to bother to read the fic.

Not sure why you bothered flaming. The fic's first review is priceless though.

When you flame stories like that, it's basically the same as walking past a three year old on a big wheel and then bitching him out at the top of your lungs for not using turn signals.

Though I did find it humorous that the only five favorite fics the author has are: Descendant of Merlin, Heir of Merlin, Lion's Power, Keeper of Power, and Secrets of Power.

Admittedly I am very perturbed that he put an apostrophe in the word get's.

 

Found a bad one on the front page.

So some of you may have seen this in the review section, and it was flamed for being a piece of shit, which it is of course, but the real gem of this story is the Dumbledore Millicent Bulstrode lemon. That alone is enough to get this story to go here.

I always thought hp-ff.com had a fic-intake team to actually control the submissions before they are accepted. The following ... 'summary' ... proves the contrary.

And that's the summary of her second chapter (it indeed is labelled as chapter no. 2 - how bad must the first have been if it wasn't accepted )

Nope. Not unless you make a horribly off-topic or pointless post. Two weeks isn't much of a necro for a thread that's up to version 4 and been around almost as long as DLP.

Here's a small rule of thumb that I use (and bear in mind I'm not the authority on DLP rules): If you have something to say that could warrant starting a new thread and discussion, I'd much rather see the same discussion necroed than starting a new thread that simply regurgitates all the same arguments. If what you have to add would never warrant a new thread or spark a discussion, then it's probably not worth necroing.

That and I also consider degrees of necro as well. By that I mean, if someone asked a question and there were 28 replies over the course of the next three days and now three weeks later someone chimes in, that's a much more severe necro than seeing one of the DLP staple threads that have been around forever (bad summaries, bad fanfic, peeves, quotes, etc.) and have hundreds of posts get some new comments after a month.

Unfortunately sometimes a judgment call does require a modicum of common sense which as we all know, is in scarce supply around here.

One thing you can try is to always ask staff and mention Admin/Mod said it was okay. And preemptively acknowledging the fact that you know your post could be considered necro but felt it was worth posting anyway will avoid all the usual flames and catcalls of newbieness. All the real guilty necro-posters are completely ignorant to the idea of necro-posting.

 

I was just searching fanfiction.net. And I read this. I felt like I died.

 

I have a childish and almost overwhelming urge to flame that author now. However, I really want to know who the sick bastards are that have been "begging" for the fic to be completed.

 

OMG Belerdorhan! Are you trying to begin a mass suicide or what? This is one of the most WTF summary ever, I mean Hermione is Sauron? Tolkien must be rolling in his grave not scratch that he must be trying to escape is coffin to kill the author.

I couldn't believe it when I read this. Sometime freedom of expression is a pain.
