oh i played legend of dragoon.
it was crazy like i didnt like it but for some reason i kept playing it. I was like "this game isnt that great there isnt even a magic system!!!" and the fact that it was amazingly eazy. . . but the story was just so good i guess that i kept playing. I got suckered.

but still ive played a lot of rpg's and Suikoden 1 and 2 are still my favs.

lucky break for me... went out with dad so i could pay med bills and stopped at mall... picked up Resident Evil 4 for PS2 (great by the way), trapt (a great game for any evil bastards since you basically go round stealing souls, sequel of sorts to old PSX game Tecmo's Deception), a spiffy new Limited edition Akuma Xbox control and Scorpion PS controller, adn this... i recommend them all....

Tecmo's Deception kicked all sorts of ass for the time it was released it. So many people blasted that game it wasn't funny.

I don't know how you guys can stand that console / manga crap. That's hardly clasified as RPG at all. If you want good, inventive robust game with great plot and playing system, then try:

    1) Fallout 2

That's post apocalyptic sci-fi game, great plot, best atmosphere. Mature stuff.

    2) Planescape - Torment

One of the most artistic games ever. It uses that standard set of rules but the plot and atmosphere are way over the top.

    3) Arcanum - Of steel and magicwork (or something like that)

Unique setting - combination of 19th century guns and technology and standard magic stuff. It flopped coz it wasn't comercial enough.

The best thing is, all of these are at least 4-5 years old. No 3d stuff, no comercialisation, no 'adapted from ps2' crap... the best games ever in my book. What can I say, I like the older games and absolutely hate all that console comercial stuff.

Dude I play all three of those still to this date, well except for Arcanum... that game had so much potential, then they left out like half of it and it's riddled with bugs.. but the concept was effing incredibly simple, but it'd never been done before, the fantasy world, in a 1800's industrial setting. It was a good game however, just disapointed me it didn't go where it could of.

Fallout 2 was nuts, waiting for 3 to come out, in development for like a year or so now supposedly.

Planescape... I can't stay anything bad about that game, it was utterly kick ass. Same as Fallout, new spin on now well established rules.

I usually hate console stuff, but I am enjoying Prince of Persia quite a bit. Alot of the Squaresoft 2d RPGs in the 90s kicked ass, even if you had to deal with super-deformed characters with spiky hair. (What the HELL is with that anyway?)

I've started moving away from single player, and more towards online shooters and MMORPG's like WoW.

I don't think I'll ever play MMORG for three reasons.

    1) There's NO WAY in hell I'm paying them on monthly basis just to play a game. I've never paid for a piece of software in my life, and I have no intention to start with bad habbits now.

    2) I kinda prefer to be a hero and not just another trash-disposal guy, amidst the thousand others.

    3) It's just too nerve-wrecking. When I play a game, I want to fucking relax and enjoy myself, and not to worry all the time about dying and loosing my eguipment, or someone else stealing my quest. I definitely don't want to end up as those Koreans who play the game for 60 hours, before commiting suicide coz someone stole their +10 sword. PUT IN FUCKING SAVE GAME FEATURE, YOU BASTARDS!

Most of the new games do shit like that - no save game, no end-turn, no mouse-use. It's like they're intentionally trying to fry your brain and nerves out with things flashing all over the place. Fucking corporations, it's a conspiracy I tell you.

Same here. I've never been much for community gaming. Other players just tend to annoy the piss out of me for the most part, either through dragging me down by getting in my way or playing stupidly, or by just behaving in a manner that indicates little intelligence (1337 speak and such).

Some of them aren't too bad, Asheron's call (1999-present) and WoW being the tops. I liked Asheron's call cause you felt like a hero in it, WoW I just like the atmosphere.

I based my opinions mostly on my Diablo II battle.net experiences.

Diablo II has the absolute worst online community I've ever seen, short of the Korean Starcraft and Everquest obession they also have.

I was thinking aobut maybe getting WoW for X-mas. Is it a good deal or should I stay away from it and find something else to get?

I wouldntbother unless there are free servers like with Ragnarok Online and lineage II and what not... i dun see the point of buying a game only to have to pay to play it... even if some are as cheap as 10 and 15 a month its pointless and redundant in my eyes

i mean they make MORE than enough to cover server costs without the charge

Nah, thats what everyone thinks, but you try paying for an assloads of servers, each with thousands of ppl on them. The bandwidth alone rapes you, not to even start on the hardware maintenance, the staffing costs, the constant need to patch and add more stuff onto the game for free.

Get Wow, it's great fun, I enjoyed the hell out of it. I was going to go back to it, but a friend got me hooked on BF2.

Suikoden Tactics bought and beaten. Not the best SRPG ever designed but still a good one. I'm replaying it now and finding that S Rank is much easier to obtain with some experience. I'm not using New Game + so it comes down solely to my own skills.

I dont like how you have to pay for WoW just to play it... its quite annoying really. I understand why they have it how it is but... urgh.
