Honestly, if I had to stack up the number of fan fic readers/writers who are familiar with Crowley, versus the ones that heard the term "magicks" thrown around constantly in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, I suspect Buffy would win that one.

Whether it trickled down to Joss or his writers via Crowley... shrug.

 

People here are sleeping on the strongest spell, the one that defeated He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Expelliarmus.

 

I liked the knot magic from Enembee's By The Divining Light. That was well done.

 

1. Spellchain by Jbern: Just a natural extension of dueling skill and ability. The weaknesses are obvious too as interruption in the middle of the spell chain will stop the entire thing.

2. Dementor creation spell: Basically creates an artificial dementor that works like a real one. Needs strong control over mind magics to produce a dementor that is terrifying enough. In Patronus charm you use happy memories to power the spell. For this one, you use sad and hateful emotions.

3. Laguna blade: Shoots a powerful bolt of white-hot lightning. Used by Lina from DotA2.
