So I was listening to my itunes when,(this is going to sound gay) Alicia key's song "If I Ain't Got You" came on and I realized that it was my favorite song to read HP Fanfiction to. I don't know why exactly its my favorite but it is.
So I was wondering what eveyrone else listens too?

Don't flame me because of my song. Lol

You can be queer and still eat queef, as queer only really means odd or wierd, and you can call me an idiot if you want.

And I like quoting, so bite me.

Didn't queer originally mean Happy or something similar (much like gay, hence the synonymous nature of its "social definition")?

    Edit: I see...fair enough.

    Main Entry: queer
    Pronunciation: \ˈkwir\
    Function: adjective
    Etymology: origin unknown
    Date: 1508
    1 a: worthless counterfeit <queer money> b: questionable suspicious
2 a: differing in some odd way from what is usual or normal b (1): eccentric unconventional (2): mildly insane : touched c: absorbed or interested to an extreme or unreasonable degree : obsessed d (1)often disparaging : homosexual (2)sometimes offensive : gay 4b
    3: not quite well
    — queer·ish \-ish\ adjective
    — queer·ly adverb
    — queer·ness noun
usage Over the past two decades, an important change has occurred in the use of queer in sense 2d. The older, strongly pejorative use has certainly not vanished, but a use by some gay people and some academics as a neutral or even positive term has established itself. This development is most noticeable in the adjective but is reflected in the corresponding noun as well. The newer use is sometimes taken to be offensive, especially by older gay men who fostered the acceptance of gay in these uses and still have a strong preference for it.

Queer originally meant 'strange', or 'out of the ordinary'.

As to the main discussion, I hold no musical preferences when reading HP fanfics. Usually it's whatever's on, be it an old 60s song that happens to be in my head, or more modern band.

Somehow, the song "Runaround Sue" reminds me of Ginny Weasley. Hm.

I basically listen to the group of tracks I use when I'm studying, but my favorite is: "Aunt Hagar's Blues" by Jim Cox

Select Voltaire (so shoot me), Efterklang, Apparat, LCD Soundsystem, random New Age, random Avant Garde, random Trance (esp. DJ Adrian Eftimie, Earthbound). More or less what I usually listen to.

Pearl Jam. Brooding sounding songs like Immortality, Nothingman, Black, Yellow Ledbetter, I Am Mine, Jeremy, and others like that give me a mellow feel for writing.

Fight scenes really fit well with certain AC/DC or Metallica tracks, and even the song Uninvited by Alanis Morrissette works for me. Which I'd readily agree is odd.

Shape of Things to Come by Audioslave is an excellent song for any writing, though. It's mellow and evokes clear mental images in the listener. Gives you something to go on, so to speak.

So there are a few things that my ears like while my mind works. And that's just me.

Listen to pretty much anything - been playing this track more often than not of late:

It's pretty mellow, cool rhythm - and written by an Australian band, The Panics, that actually have quite a following down here.

***GASP*** Geeze whenever I ask someone online or even in real life "Have you heard of Breaking Benjamin?" there like who? Aggravates me to no end man.....

I guess when I listen to it I think it's a pretty emotional song, least the way he sings it in the piano version, go check it out if you have never heard it. Oh and it just reminds me of things in my life.

If it's humor, nothing beats The Mountain Goats. In particular, "No Children" off their Tallahassee album.

Dark stories work well with Shostakovich: Symphony 5 or cello concertos (Yo-yo ma, preferably, for the latter).
