There were exactly two posts regarding him, separate posters, but only two posts. The second person, one with 9 posts, is the one who insulted him. Someone with 9 posts does not represent "a whole rash of people..." and all of DLP.

The idiocy astounds me.

 

Seeing he keeps a log in his profile of anyone that insults him - even anonymous FFN reviews - I think he's going out of his way to make himself seem persecuted. Not surprising that he took the word of a nine-post wonder to make himself believe all of DLP was against him.

Quoted for truth. This guy takes himself way too seriously. He rants at anyone with the gall to criticize him, and he's got a list of more than fifty pet peeves in fanfiction. How is it that the Harry/Ginny soul bond garbage he employs in his own fic didn't make that list?

Well, just to be fair, the link to the other thread included a lot of people making fun of the guy. Maybe that is what he is referring to?

Nevertheless, his DLP rant was rather unnecessary and he does seem arrogant and hypocritical.

 

Problem is: from what Andro gave to us, this guy has his writing mechanisms down, but he uses cliches and awful plot devices like they are running out of style. Sorry, buddy, but they ran out about three years ago when we all grew up and realized teenagers don't have relationships because of soul bonds, and Ginny Weasley really is the model definition of Mary-Sue.

Well.... maybe not model definition of Mary Sue, as that would imply she is good looking. God, if only JKR would have been male. He would have given Harry a sexy Veela babe.

So, honestly, DLP is against this guy and his douche-baggery. He just preemptively raged to make himself feel important. It's kinda like Hannah Montana's "I'm a Super Star!".

 

I think you hit the nail on the head. From what I've seen of Worldmaker he has an overwhelming, driving need to lay down the law - his law - and tell everyone when they're being stupid. Where "being stupid" is defined as "anything that isn't aligned with Worldmaker's own views". No exceptions allowed, no discourse will be entered into, the arbiter has spoken.

Worldmaker needs to feel important ... to believe that he's at the top of the heap. And since he can't raise himself up by his own deeds, the only other recourse for someone like Worldmaker is to dress other people down. Because it's the act of putting another down that lets Worldmaker feel that he's (relatively) on top.

 

The greatest thing is, DLP does the exact same thing, myself included. Isn't hypocrisy grand? The guys a tool for writing what he does, but he's just as legitimate calling me a tool for making fun of him for it.

 

Even more ironic is that he now has a healthy rash of people, who wouldn't have otherwise read his shit, now going on about what a faggot he is. The author is basically trying to imitate Maddox, and compact as much of Maddox as he can into his author's profile (of all places).

@Worldmaker (because I know you'll either lurk/join DLP, or Google yourself): try harder.

Haven't read his stuff, so I can't comment on that, but what an arrogant, pompous prick. No thanks; if I know you're an asshole beforehand, I don't read your shit purely on principle. That goes double for fanfiction, and Christ, with a name like Worldmaker, what did we expect? It's like Kim Jong Il, but without the clout.

Is this clown really using Donald P. Bellisario as a guiding principle? Sure, he created classics like Magnum and Quantum Leap, both of which I loved and QL definitely required Suspension of Disbelief, but Bellisario also came up with eye-rolling flops like Airwolf, and I personally think JAG and NCIS are utter crap. To use that guy as your guide makes me scratch my head.

Me too, Oz, me too. I actually happened across this guy's FF.net profile yesterday because he's listed as a favorite author of Full Pensieve, for fuck's sake. FP is finishing up his stories and is re-uploading them to FF.net if anyone is interested. Of course, FP also has muggledad listed as a favorite, which tells me his favorites mean exactly shit.

On a positive note for you Worldmaker, 'cause we all know you're going to read and reread this thread, you narcissistic cunt, I actually agree with the majority of your fanfic pet-peeves. One you could add would be "Hypersensitive and self-deluded quasi-authors whose over-inflated sense of self-worth is a boon to those blood-in-the-water assholes over on DLP." See what I did there, Worldmaker? If not, join DLP, post an Intro, then PM me and I'll 'splain it to you.

I don't wanna be rude and I am positive that I am in a fairly cheerful mood. I applaud you for having contributed something new but brushing it in our eyes and jumping up and down; if you don't consider this self pompous and arrogant what else would you?

Because the joy of being DLP is that they are preemptively butt-hurt about anything we say or do, and it gives us lots of useful information to pick at them back with when they eventually RAGE!

So, I think we are just continuing tradition against H/G soul bond "authors". He gets to rage, we get to laugh and fuck with him, and then go back to whatever corner of S&P we crawled out of.

Because that's what DLP is. Sick and perverse.
