I just did an experiment, and to my surprise it turns out that you can review your own stories. I suppose anyone can do so when they're anomynous, but this was when I was actually logged in. Is this how it's supposed to be, or is this simply something overlooked by FFNet?

Err, yes you can. So what? Review count isn't exactly like REP here. It means nothing to anyone but yourself.

Personally, I reviewed my own stories a few times, when I wanted to post a message or answer to anon. reviewers who forgot to leave contact info.

OTHER people disagree. He spent quite a while arguing his high review count ment he was an accomplished author.

Regardless, And, you can review yourself. It is a pointless affair though, and will, inevitably, be seen as an attempt to artifically boost Review counts.

I think it's always been that way. I know a while back when review responses were not allowed in story content (fics have been deleted for it), but they didn't have a system for replying to reviews, some authors would post a "review" for their own chapter 11 (arbitrary number) with all the responses up to that point for chapter 11, at the same time as they posted chapter 12. Abraxan was one author I remember doing that.

Yeah. I've seen authors use this method to answer Anon reviewers because they didn't want to put it in their chapters.

This is offtopic, but isn't really worth its own thread.

I just discovered that fanfiction.net has upped the number of allowed favorites again. The limit used to be around 151 or so but I just spotted a user with 663 favorites. Not sure what the limit is now but that's a ton more than I'd ever spotted. Makes for a hella page load. And even clicking on the different links to sort the list takes javascript a few seconds to process.

(I wonder if any DLP members are bored enough to add the entire library as favorites to a ff.net account...)

Ask Kate. Not only does she have no life, but she is also the DLP Librian.

Wouldn't it be easier to just create a C2 that's called The DLP Library? In fact, isn't there one already? It wouldn't be that hard to do it, though, with Kate's list.

There's a DLP c2 for each category in the library, I am not sure as to their upkeep, but if someone made an FF.net profile with the DLP library in it, I would give them some of my hyphens, and some rep on the side.

I could probably do it tomorrow at work, if it IS necessary. Does anybody know if the DLP C2's are updated when new fics come into the library?

I really have no idea on that one. I think there was one person designated to each c2(DLP library Category) but I don't think any new stories have been added in quite a while.

I would stand up and applaud you at my computer if you took the time to do this, and give you a cookie via UPS overnight shipping.

There are C2's for each section (Romance, Alternates, Independent, etc...) and those are good for folks who want to subscribe and get emailed every time a fic gets added to the library. But that's dependent on whoever staffs the C2 keeping them up to date (which I'm not sure anyone is).

Adding the library to a favorites though puts them all in one place. It allows you to sort the whole thing by updated to see which DLP fics have been updated since you last looked. It allows you to sort by status and you can see which fics in the library have been marked 'Complete' on fanfiction.net. Others might want long fics, and you can sort by words, or reviews, etc... Things you don't get from a half dozen C2 groups.

No clue if it'll ever be 'official' or 'authorized', I just know there are a lot of bored people around here.

Hmmm ... I think there once was an option to increase the fav-limits and create more than one c2 by donating/subscribing. But I can't find anything about that anymore.

Good on you, and your cookies are on the way via UPS. Have some rep in the meantime.

    Question:

What will you do about the stories not on ff.net?

I suggest turning a portion of the author page into a list of them.

    /me blinks

Thats a good idea. I'll probably do that. It's a little useless because it doesn't allow for sorting, which is the main point of this, but at least all the stories will be in one place.

EDIT: I didn't put a link before, so here it is. I've only gotten to the B's so far, but I'll have much more time to work on it tonight.

    You fucking dipshit.

    GET RID OF THAT ACCOUNT

We already have C2's set up for each section of the library that are maintained and sanctioned by the staff. Just check the C2's in my profile.

    Dumbass.

Calm down Xiph0. Do we even maintain those? Either way, don't yell at members for being helpful.

If the C2s are being maintained, the DLP Library account won't need to stay open.

I haven't talked to the other managers since Taure got kicked out about them, but I've maintained the Humor one, yeah.
