I just recently found this site, and so I was rather suprised to find that, not only was the name DarthBill already taken, but he had even posted my story under it without telling me.

I don't really mind having my story posted other places. It just bothers me that someone is pretending to be me.

I entertained the idea that maybe I joined and forgot, but they don't have my email address on file, and the contact button doesn't contact me.

Several other DLP members are members there, so I would like to know if you are actually members, or if someone is using your names as well.

Specifically, I am asking bluminous, who is an administrator for the site, wtf is going on.

 

I think it was created by Wim Vincken because of talk that ficwad was closeing down so WV copied ficwad and made this site, I am not 100% sure on this.

It's older than that. DarthBill has been a member sinse September.

 

He solicited from other authors as well; several of my stories are there and I've never posted anything on Ficwad. Some time ago, WV contacted me by email, asking if it's okay to repost my HP ff.net stories under my name on the site. I didn't see a problem with it as long as I didn't have to do anything myself, so I let him.

 

Yeah, I was posting my stuff there for a while, but I found the submission process there so fucking annoying (and the fact that the reviews I get there completely fucking useless), so I just stopped. One the same reasons I stopped posting on FictionAlley and Mugglenet (besides the fact Mugglenet hates chapters longer than 10,000 words, which doesn't go over well with me).

Ficdom used to be called something else. Harry Potter Fanfic Archive or something like that.

 

I don't particularly care if they post my story there, either. It sucks, anyway. I'd just like it, if when someone contacts DarthBill, it's me they're talking to.

Is it from anything in particular, or just something you made?

It reminds me of Wash from firefly, but I'm not sure if thats actually who it is.

I haven't visited the site in months, and I noticed that I still have moderator privileges in ficdom. (I volunteered to be the moderator of the Harry Potter crossover section but then abandoned my duties due to the lack of activity. Also, I didn't want to upload stories without the original author's permission.)


Ficdom's has a very complicated system, and I never got around to uploading my stories except for a trial run of Thief of Hogwarts.

There are features in the site that I wish Fanfiction.net had, like the 1 click link that would allow a reader to see all the chapters in 1 page.

There's the flag webservice for fanfiction, but sometimes chapters will be missing, especially for stories with length more than 100k words.

Ficdom also incorporates the rating system like that of Ficwad, though that's not really accurate with a site that still has low activity. Wim had also decided to separate slash from general content, in the hopes of luring in more authors and readers.
