In the past 3 days, attempting to enter FicWad, I encountered some nasty messages. Like:
    or
The second one is kind of funny for about 0.7 seconds, until you remember that the last time FicWad went down, it stayed down for months, and the new scripts are more bugs infested then the old ones.

It's been what, 4-5 months since it's back? Before it went down, there were authors that posted chapters 18-22k words long. apocalypso and HermanTumbleweed come to mind as prime examples. Since it's back, chapters with more then aprox. 16k words appear blank. Neither the Story Alert nor the Author Alert works. The rating system is bogus. The list goes on.

I spent 2 hours yesterday before I was permitted access by the database, and 3 hours today. I've already spoken with one author who is thinking of setting shop somewhere else as well. I recommended several places, this forum among them, but Vanir is leaning more towards a Yahoo Group.

Last time this hapened, it was Beautiful CHAOS, so this is a friendly warning. Want to backup stories or to download onto HDD, now would be the time. Also, bornagainpenguin, you can't use the 'kidnapped by aliens' excuse again! Some who frecvent this forum would use it as an excuse to disect you, so they could find out what makes you so damned interesting to those aliens.

Yep. I can't remember when I was able to access FicWad the last time. I don't even bother to look at it anymore. Besides, it has attracted a lot of authors like wimwyncken and similar, so the ratio good vs. bad is nowadays as bad as ff.net's.

Is that that 'pee in her butt' guy? Yeah, do not want.

As for Ficwad, I only use it to follow NC-17 fics that aren't posted on AFF. I think only one of those is HP.
I can't help but notice that they've removed their 'browse fics by character' feature. Now it's harder than ever to find nonslash fics. wtf

For the past few weeks Ficwad has been working fine for me. The interface is still all fucked up, but accessing and reading stories is fine.

Maybe it's something to do with the fact that I'm in Europe?

It seems to be steady enough today, just intermittently slow.

Well where Ficwad is going so is FF.net, I haven't been able to access stories on there all day. Their search also goes down periodically, it is quite annoying.

Oh yeah, i'm pretty sure everyone knew that. When ficwad was a lesser known site the good vs. bad ratio was pretty good. But it got pretty well known when FF.net cracked down on people about their retarded rules.

Pretty not!subtle with the hints there, lol.

I don't see the point of FicWad's existence. If nothing works, ala the alert systems, etc., the good:bad ratio is roughly equal to FFnet's, it might as well just shut down.

The alerts do work, well at least the 'story alert' does, I don't have an author on alert at FicWad... on any site actually.

But it doesn't matter now... we have PC!
