Every Tales I can remember save for Xillia had absolutely terrible dubbing. Fucking Asbel and Cheria omg.

As for the gameplay, I'm still not seeing Tales, even with the upcoming game. Completely different mechanics wise. A more apt comparison would be Kingdom Hearts / God of War / Heavenly Sword what with the 'press x for standard attack combo' noise.

Kojima virtually doesn't count. He's got a massive hard on for Hollywood.

    I take your point though.

Relevant kotaku articles (1) & (2) that expand upon the newest Jump Festa trailer and help clear up some of the stuff Tabata said in his 50 minute TGS interview about combat.

I love having to put some thought into battle setup, so the promise of unique combos and abilities for each of the weapons you collect has me squealing like a little girl. Basically, the vast Lightning Returns costume system got shitfaced one night and conceived a bastard with God of War.

Excited to summon Titan, even if it's just a massive disembodied fist raining down from the sky or something. Oh and camping/fatigue debuff mechanic is legit cool.

Honestly, this game is looking better with every info dump.

Huh, I heard about the exp thing, but the interaction scenes is new, not sure how I feel about the cooking/combining thing, I usually like that stuff, but I hope it's easier to use than chemists/mix usually is. Just putting up the results, and what those results do, before you confirming mixing would go a long way I'd think.

Using your xp at camp sounds remarkably like Dark Souls.

Basic Combat Tutorial - in HD

This actually looks moderately challenging as action games go. Your armor is paper thin and your health pool is tiny, so success is all about managing mp while dodging and executing well-timed parries.

I am picturing wipe after Leeroy-Jenkins-style wipe in rooms full of weakass goblins.

Not really as innovative a combat system as they were boasting a year ago, but it does at least look fun. Hopefully, the addition of magic/summons/specials will diversify things a bit more.

If anything I think it feels a bit like how crisis core handled the dodging mechanic, though whether or not that's good thing I can't really say. That camera however... blech. The camera is going to be annoying as all hell to set up properly, if it can be done at all. The warp move shown between 2:40 and 3:00 makes me hope that we get more than the standard Invert Control and increase sensitivity.

Minus my complaint about the camera, the weapon swapping system looks like it could be hella fun to abuse. Swap from a dragoon's jump straight into a claymore for Link's spin attack - then die from lack of mana.

Also, my googling skills are either failing to rise to the occasion, or not much official has been said about this - has anyone heard of, or is there any official talk of a PC release that doesn't immediately fall into a fight about "Consoles vs Whatever"?

Not sure about PC. They're typically not big on developing for PC. Porting though? They love that. You'll probably get it on your Android/iPhone in five years, lol.

Dunno if you all know this, but I just found out that this Duscae demo isn't really a demo at all, or rather, it's a demo for the systems and mechanics (Cid, badum tish) rather than the game.

Basically, this demo is like Ground Zeros in that it won't be appearing in the full game.

At least not in the way we're getting it now.

I like that. I also like a lot of what they've shown by way of mechanics and style so far. I'll hold back on commenting until I finally play it next week though.

The behemoth quest will probably be there, in some form, as a way to introduce the party to Jiggles McCleavage, but yeah I expect most of the intro stuff they're throwing in will take place in Noctis' home city.

AFAIK, the story, or a major beat of it, is that they're the sons of Yakuza-ish clan heads who've been assassinated, and they're now on the run/ in hiding.

Can't cite that, but if that's the case, staying in one city doesn't make much sense.

Lol, implying FF makes any sense, ever, ftw.

No, that's accurate. I just meant the game will probably start in the city what with the evil empire doing its evil empire invasion thing. Like... I doubt the combat tutorial will take place in Duscae.

I'm getting it today, I'm getting it today, I'm getting it today ooooooooh eeeem geeeeee.

100 bucks for a demo... At least it comes with type-0 XD

I'm just super eager to see (feel?) how the combat feels! I doubt very much else is final other than the minor non-combat mehanix.

Link didn't work, so I eventually just searched for it myself...

There's been no FF game, ever, that has made summons feel so epic. The music, the scale, the DAMAGE. Don't know how they'll balance that (unusable on bosses? Damage not yet finalized?).

The thought of Bahamut is giving me the chills.
