I know that coming to DLP for a happy, lighthearted story is like trying to find solace in a porcupine when you need a hug, but that's what I'm in the mood for.

I've been reading too many dark, apocalyptic fics that make me feel like my dog just died.

Does anyone know any good, lighthearted fics? Not fluff -- goofy, zany, clever stuff that make you chuckle. Parodies and such.

There are some really good fics in this genre --

    On the Train, Switching Tracks,

    What Would Slytherin Harry Do?,

    Oh God Not Again!,

    Dimension Hopping for Beginners,

    Shezza's HP Parody,

    Silverwolf7007's Dear Order,

and -- my personal favorite -- nonjon's A Black Comedy.

Care to throw me a few things along those lines?

Someone else mentioned Make_A_Wish. I'll second it. It's one of the few comedy fics I've ever enjoyed.

Edit: Almost_a_Squib by BajaB is also rather amusing.

I've never understood why so many people seem to like Make A Wish. I thought it was infantile, a waste of time and potential.

Current and more light, happy but strange stories are

Growing Up Kneazel and Birth of Bardic Magic. They aren't the typical DLP content, have weaknesses but there's a certain light sided charm to both. The later one reads like a fairy tale somehow with an unique idea.

There is some Harry/Ron timetravel story which is more comedy/dark-parody in a way. Can't remember the name though.

The perfect comedy *and* smart story in my book is A Black Comedy. Nothing comes anywhere close to this masterstroke. Most of the other candidates were mentioned already I suppose.

While Black Comedy is the paragon of comedy, nonjon's Where In The World Is Harry Potter Trilogy is pretty entertaining, with the middle story not quite meeting the quality of the other two in my opinion.

The Lie I've Lived, if you've somehow managed to avoid it. I wouldn't call it a parody, but the first time I read it I lost my shit every other time the Sorting Hat spoke.

Edit: And HHHHHH-etc. Everything you need to know is compressed into this single quote:

There's The Quiet Place by Ruskbyte, though some of the one-liners are a bit dated. Also, since someone brought up BajaB, Harry the Hufflepuff has a sequel, and Two Weeks in the Alley has never failed to make me smile.

    And of course Contemplating Clouds.

Hm, most of the best ones have been listed already.

If you have a sick or rude sense of humor, Harry Potter and the Champion's Champion is ok. I know not a lot of DLP people like it but meh, I have a weird sense of humor. As a side note, I'd ignore the first chapter. It's very cheap romance and I pretty much just skipped it when I read it.

Let's do the time warp again is the same as above, entertaining if you have a sick or rude sense of humor. Again, I'm weird like that, so I find this stuff entertaining.
