The fic has been exceeding my expectations (by a ton) so far. I just hope it doesn't go the way of, for example "Bonds of Blood" (by this author), which was one of the most bland fics I've ever read.

I too hope for a Harry who becomes a third party-- advocating for a violent revolution for equality, not for misogyny.

 

Yeah, I don't agree with Harry working with Voldemort in the long run either, I'm just sort of hoping we get an actual rebellion instead of... not. And despite Voldemort's many faults, he is a proven violent lunatic with a solid track record of murder and mayhem.

 

I mean... If Harry actually fights for equality fine. But if he just whines after finding the truth and the world changes through words of love I will rage quit.

 

You know I was thinking I don't actually mind if Harry ends up bonded in the short term. Of course, if he ends up in a happy, loving relationship with 4 girls it'll be pretty terrible.

But I wouldn't mind if he bonded Hermione. Particularly because at this stage, they'd be bonding as close friends and not exactly people in that sort of relationship. I've always had a soft spot for awkward romances like that.

Or if DM really wanted to go adventurous, have his first bondmate being someone he completely resents (recently read the Code Geass fic Dauntless and for those who've read it, think Lelouch's arranged marriage with Abigail). In fact, that could be a fantastic way to start Harry switching from just whining to actually wanting to take action. Nothing as drastic as pulling a Voldemort and murdering his first wife, but that could be a really interesting route.

 

While Justine is the likely first bondsmate (Harry's been in communication with her parents, she's offered herself, and it's been established in the story that Hermione is not going to be his first), the scene with Ginny this last chapter foreshadowed something. I expect that once we get through the whole resurrection thingee, she's either going to attack Justine and/or Hermione or else she's going to find some way (perhaps with her mother's help) to bond Harry. Or both. She would certainly qualify as someone Harry would resent if she somehow managed to poach him.

I'm just glad Quidditch is over. I really hate reading about it.

 

She overheard enough to know that the muggleborn's parents are up to something, my guess is that she's either gonna use that as leverage or just go blab to the first queen bitch she can find, the end-result being alot of muggleborns suddenly finding themselves orphans or forcefully adopted.

 

This made me think of Harry and Dumbeldore trying to seduce her. >_>

 

Eh. Had she lived for a couple more years, I'd say she'd have had a pretty good chance of getting into Harry's pants.

 

I think that so far this fic follows very closely the standard DM plot. With some deviation of course, but nothing overly radical. I will see how it goes. Speculation below:

Looking at other DM's fics, I think he will make Harry bond Luna first and then the rest of the girls. Then, he will make the power leech into a two way street (or something), and give Harry a super boost in strength.
Just look at his other fics, many of them had the same mechanic (HPatFF, TFM, LotL, UT).

Voldemort is always evil and the main antagonist, therefore I don't see how Harry could join him in any capacity. I personally think Dumbledore will die protecting Harry or in the upcoming rescue attempt.

That said, DM may well surprise me and come up with an original way to progress this fic.

 

For all problems - it have a really well done Dumbledore. His activity as Headmaster and at Ministry have a positive effects, protections at Dursleys were both effective and necessary, scene with Umbridge etc.

 

I recently caught up with this, and I've found myself liking it more than I did when it was still in first year.
However, while Harry's characterization has improved from shit to a solid whatever, the increasing focus on divination is something that grates on me exponentially with every new addition. I guess that's just personal preference, but I really can't stand the way we're essentially getting a view into what is shaping up to be a very unsatisfying future.
Also, the Harry/Luna setup has gone from fucking awful to straight up creepy.

EDIT: Have to wonder about Ginny's sudden bout of conscience though, does she really think that Molly's solution to avoid having mudbloods bond Harry Potter is to kidnap him and blow up the stadium? That this is somehow her fault? I'm not sure how stupid this is.

 

Ginny beleives her mother is incredibly powerful. Not just personally, but politically. And only a short time after telling on some other girls, a massive explosion hurts one of them, nad Harry disappears. Ginny doesn't know about voldemort or any of the other players, she just saw that the problem went away when she went to her mother, and it scared the piss out of her.
Though if Ginny ends up the "redeemed" 4th wife, he's got a lot more work to do.

 

Low blow with the explosion Voldemort. I wonder how he was planning to explain that little bit of verbal lawyering to Harry after if he did turn him. "Fuck you minion who might've been sort of loyal, you can see what my word is worth."

Did anyone else think Hermione got her legs blown off in the explosion at first? There seemed to be a lot of clues with her being disoriented, lightweight, and unable to feel her legs.

 

I'm gonna be really pissed off if Ginny worms her way into the harem with a couple o' stinkin' tears.
