Sounds good enembee. I'll probably settle for some kind of field doctor who's hired by the captain.

I finally managed to get the book pdf so I'm starting to read that now. How do you want to proceed for the character creation and character sheet (I know Vashj has a website where he/she? uploaded a bunch of modifiable character sheets; we used that during my Game of thrones game).

I like these rules, it'll keep things going quickly.
So what will character creation look like? Group led? private PM?

I've made a Google Docs sheet in lieu of any real online presence. I was thinking that if you guys PM'ed me your character sheets, I'd make you a copy and then share it viewable for the public and editable between myself and whoever's character sheet it is. Then you can maintain it, but I can see what changes you've made and when. I trust you guys not to cheat, but it does cover us in the case of discrepancies.

Here's one for Wash, as in the corebook, should it not be obvious what the pieces are for.

And I'm completely happy for you to discuss it in thread. I want everyone's sheet to be public anyway. Though I'd rather you pick a concept and see it through, I accept that by design, when you were assembling a crew you'd pick people with a broad range of skills.

EDIT: Something I'd actually really like to see you guys do is, similar to FATE (if you've played that) is emphasise during character creation some existing inter-personal relationships. It might be friendship, rivalry, romantic, whatever. I'd like each of you to have something going on with at least one other person though.

So character hooks for my guy:
Born in the red sun system.
    Comes from middle class merchants
Didn't really do well in school
    Very friendly
    Loves drinking
    Very pretty, physically fit too
    Enjoys dancing

If this seems like anything you can tie to, post, so we can hash out details.

So I'm thinking my character shouldn't have actually joined the crew yet, and maybe could join in the first episode. I understand if that's not acceptable Enembee, but I kind of like the idea of not being fully integrated into the group yet.

That's actually really awesome shouldabeen, if y'all could post a little something like that and see where you might overlap, we'll be through this in moments.

Also, this is all starting to really come together. I've had 5? character sheets so far and we've got a really awesome cast starting to build. I'd really like the last of you to be read to go by Friday, anyone not with me then'll be axed. I need the weekend to start plotting the premier and first season. Tomorrow at some point I'll post a little on how I'll frame scenes and pass narrative control (I'm a big fan of that :p) but until then, lets have a conversation about your lovely transport ship "The Manifest Destiny".

This is something you guys can work out between yourselves, Captain Lamora gets final choice on split decisions. When I get a moment, I'll dig out some floor plans for various ships in the 'Verse so you can get an idea of what you might want to go for in terms of aesthetics. I'll also try and knock together a Google Spreadsheet version of the ship sheet.

Regarding the ship, if I want one thing solidly it's the Cruisin' The Verse customization. So if there's one thing I'm going to throw my whole weight behind, it's that.

However, if I were to suggest any full package, it would be a Hades Class Prison Transport with the Deep Space Ready, Cruisin' the Verse and Off The Grid Distinctions, with the Shuttles and Laser Cannons Signature Assets.

I like the Cruisin' the Verse Distinction because if we take the trigger which gives us a d6 Complication at the beginning of each episode, we can step it up to reroll any roll during the Episode. I also think it'd really give the group some character if we're constantly trying to hide the fact we're a bunch of vigilantes from unreasonable passengers. And I think it'd be funny to retrofit a prison ship as a luxury vessel.

Of course, if that fails to sway you, remember that whatever split decision you guys come to, I have the tiebreaker vote.

And I just thought I'd let you all know that any ship build that involves the Mighty Fine Living Quarters Signature Asset for yours truly will get my vote, no matter what it is. Just sayin'.

Cruisin' the Verse is a distinction I can get behind, and I can work with Deep Space Ready. Though I think Experimental would make the most sense from an IC point of view.

The Laser Cannons and Shuttles are both options I'm happy with.

And honestly a Firefly class is pretty legit too.

To offer counterpoint to our good captain's suggestion:

    The Old Gray Mare:
Originally named the Enthusiast, this ship was one of the first Road Runners sold by the Alliance to civilian operators after the war. As a result, they were especially keen to remove all of the ship' weapons, much to the annoyace of the cargo hauler, who found himself swiftly pirated out a ship. Since then the ship has changed hands and names frequently, earning the moniker "Old Gray Mare" from the most recent owner, who gussied up the place to transport both rich people and their horses.

Road Runner Class Independant Blockade Runnerwith the Cruisin' the Verse (because it is way too much fun for all the reasons Lamora said), Been Around the 'Verse, and Defanged Tiger.

with Mighty Fine Quarters for our most distinguished guests, and shuttles for places to put our most distinguished guests when something...amiss needs tending to.

You only get two distinctions besides the ship's class. So you'd have to choose between Been Around the Verse and Defanged Tiger.

I'd lean towards Been Around the Verse, but again, this is a collobarative effort. The more opinions shared the better.

Well, like I said, I'm the pilot, so I'd prefer our engines to be at least an d8. That means for class (assuming we're set on a transport class ship - I'd be more than happy to sell you a demilitarized Road Runner if you'd let me), I'd be looking at a Firefly or a Kintsugi, within reason. Of those 2, I like the Kintsugi's triggers more, and a Firefly really just seems too obvious (but I'd love you forever if you'd all get behind it anyways cause dem engines :p). So yeah, assuming you don't want to go Firefly (or Roadrunner!):

    Class: Kintsugi

I agree with Lamora about Cruisin' the 'Verse. The Haunted distinction does the same thing, but I think Cruisin' the 'Verse will make for more interesting stories, plus it just generally seems more usable as long as we're moving Pinkertons (presumably indefinitely, since they include PCs).

    Distinction One: Cruisin' the 'Verse

For the second, I can get behind Deep Space Ready, for anything with Engines d8 or above. If you're set on going with something d6 or below, Built for Speed would be super nice.

    Distinction Two: Deep Space Ready

So, in recap a possible suggestion would be a
    Kintsugi
    Cruisin' the 'Verse
    Deep Space Ready

Other suggestions (Note: I prefer the Roadrunner's systems to the Firefly's hull, but I'd be willing to accept essentially any Roadrunner or Firefly build. These are just some of my favorites):

    Roadrunner
    Cruisin' the 'Verse
    Defanged Tiger

    Roadrunner
    Cruisin' the 'Verse
    Built for Stealth

    Hades
    Cruisin' the 'Verse
    Built for Speed

Regardless of anything else, one trigger should definitely be the demanding passenger one from Cruisin' the 'Verse. Too many variables to name a second.

As for the SAs, it really depends on what sort of ship you're looking for. I personally like Hidden Weapons over Laser Cannons, and if I couldn't convince you to spring for Built for Speed and the engines are d6 or below, then Nuclear Fuel Injection System would be nice. Shuttles would be fine. I'd like to see where everybody else's mind is before I take this any further.

Still working on my background but here's what I have so far. If you have any idea how we can connect hit me up, it might help me settle my background too. I have plenty of ideas but I'm still not sure which road to go.

    Origin: Core world
Young (still debating on his age)
Loves parties, alcohol and recreational drugs
    Easily distracted when bored
Loves to learn new things and challenge himself
Youngest graduate of the top med school
    Loves music
Not really into physical activities denoted by his lithe build and lack of coordination into anything other than dance.
    He's a hacker also.

@Enembee: What's the current political climate? Are we playing during the Firefly chrono (2510-ish) or after the series episode or before? Oh and where do we start? Rim world or borders?

    Loyal to his few friends
Dedicated to his work and always tinkering
Entirely self-taught and a bit of a prodigy
Not afraid of a fight, but knows the better part of valor
Chip on his shoulder against those with an over-abundance of schooling

Also as to background, I'm thinking I served with the captain on a previous ship and I was brought over when you became the captain Lamora.

Forget I said anything that's Riley. What's your role on the ship Cteatus?

As far as ship choice goes: I like the idea of having a prison vessel retro-fit into a luxury transport. So yeah, Cruising the 'Verse sounds nice. Some sort of satellite assets would be nice since I'm a hacker. Could do some work from the ship :)

What says you and I have a bit of a rivalry? Since I'm schooled (something which you don't like) and I'm the computer guy and you're the engine guy. And we both work to fix thing. A bit of a healthy competition?
