I've been hearing for ages about Firefox and how much better it is than IE and all these extensions that you can get for it.
Well, I finally got Firefox about 15 minutes ago and I was wondering what these extensions were all about and were to get them and stuff.

    Bugmenot

    adblock

    adblock plus
Some people prefer this version of adblock over the older builds

    fasterfox

    flashblock

    tabmix
They seem to be having some problems but there it is..

    spellbound
Can be a pain in the ass to get installed sometimes, read the directions! Only for FF1.07 IIRC

Those are the ones I almost always surf with... I'm sure more will be added here by others who use Firefox...

    --bornagainpenguin

PS: For adblock, be sure to get the latests filterset from here!

PPS: I always ride with FF1.07 because IMHO it seems to work better for me..YMMV so if you use FF1.51 and find it timing out constantly on you give an earlier version a try!

EDIT - added Fasterfox and Tabmix links

EDIT - added Spellbound extension, fixed link to bugmenot, added adblockplus link

Sessionsaver I got fed up with. Tab Mix works far better, and it doubles as Extended tabbrowser as well, so that's 2 in 1 for me, with less memory issues. Fasterfox is one one I love. Loads pages quicker.

Looks like the thread got taken over by bittorrent... IMHO we should have a recommended software sticky somewhere on the site...

Sorry, that's what I get for being lazy and stealing links from a news article...

Did you remember to restart the browser?

--bornagainpenguin (who suggests that the help section of the extension's webpages might clear up some confusion...)

this is what I have installed:

    ad block
ad block.filtersetg updater - automatically updates the filter list for adblock
disable targets for downloads - stops new tabs from popping up when clicking zip, exe, etc files
faster fox - speeds up website loading
flashgot - download multiple files, i use it to create galleries out of sequential images (image01.jpg, image02.jpg, etc). good for comics and the like
forecast fox - shows current weather and a forecast in the status bar, also shows weather alerts
gmail manager - shows when i have new gmail
greasemonkey - lets me run scripts on websites (ie a script that shows how many days ago a fic was updated on ffn, instead of a date)
ietab - opens tab in firefox with ie engine, for those stupid websites that dont work with firefox
    imagezoom
    image shack right click
noscript - youd be surprised how few sites actually need javascript running to work, usually its for ads
search plugin hacks - uninstall search engines
    sort extensions and themes
spiderzilla - mass downloads of websites
story monitor - favorites list for fics, works on ffn and a bunch of others, shows when they're updated and how many new chapters there are
tab mix plus - some cool options for tabs

    foxytunes
    View in IE
    download tweak

very few I know but i couldnt be half arssed in getting other, this extension of fasterfox looks good so i'll get that now.
Firefox is like ten times faster then IE as it is, that extension looks promising.
Foxytunes is a great extension which lets you control basically any media player from within firefox and see what they are playing aswell. Tos very nifty.

For firefox I have the following:

    fasterfox
    tabmix
    adblock
    imagezoom
    smiley xtra
    chatzilla
    bumble search
    backgroundimage saver

    Chatzilla
    GoogleToolbar
    ImageZoom

By the way, Fasterfox users, go on options and turn it down from Turbocharged. Turbocharged Fasterfox users increase load to webservers, so its kind of rude to do that, especially if you visit DLP alot.
