Some days ago I installed the extension Story Monitor V. 0.92. It's a tool to monitor if stories in various fan fiction archives are updated. It is easy to handle: you a story by adding the last chapter you just read and the tool monitors if another chapter is submitted.

    More infos: http://storymonitor.sourceforge.net/readers.php.
    First release: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1101/
    Newer versions: http://storymonitor.sourceforge.net/

The monitor works fine with ff.net, hpfandom.net and some e-fiction archives but not with harrypotterfanfiction.com, fictionalley.org, checkmated.com and other sites.

It is a handy thing to check all stories with just one tool. Sadly I don’t need it for ff.net (with its favourite lists) but for archives like fictionalley etc.

I know from an older thread that some DLP members are using / have used the tool but it was only mentioned not discussed.

Now I wonder if there are similar addons / extensions with similar functions but a wider range of hp-related archives? Or has anyone tried to decompile the included files and enhance the tool to add more archives?

Interesting. I'll have to take a look at this when I get home.

It's decent, but it looks like development is stalled on it, and it's missing a lot of good features:
    • A "status" column, so you can remove completed stories.
    • A "last updated" column, which shows the date the story was last updated on the website, not through the monitor which is what it currently does. This would help with removing abandoned stories.
    • Support for more websites, since only a couple HP ones seem to work with it.
    • A faster updating feature, or background updating. At one point I had about 300 stories, and it took forever to update because it had to grab every story and then parse it.
