I'm shocked.

Just when I thought they couldn't make it any worse, they did. My idea of Tonks as a person is SO different from what this woman looks like...

Tonks is attractive, she's spunky, she's bright and she's joyful. She's got a great sense of humor, she never looks pissed, and she is basically the girl you'd love to hang out with.

This woman is none of the above. She is lacking in every single facet. I've decided that I'm not gonna watch the fifth movie...it'll just ruin every single idea that the world of fanfiction has brought me. I feel happy that I've got such a vivid opinion/view of the HP-verse thanks to reading tons of fanfics, but if I watch that movie, it'll all get shot to shit.

Not worth my time at all. I just hope this woman doesn't botch up the (admittedly small) parts that she has in the movie.

 

She looks nothing like the Tonks I imagined...

Tonks, to me, is a pretty young girl full of life and spunk. The woman, to be honest, is way too old, and from what I can see, too unattractive to fit into my description.

Nor Rowling's, either. That is what I imagine Tonks to be, exactly what she is said to be in the book. Rather like the picture KANE posted.

 

You and me both, WB (and to some extent JKR) has fucked up all of the imagination one could have when thinking of the HP universe. Hell how many different places (i.e. movie sets) has hogwarts been? I mean the only characters that they truly have right are the twins, McGongall, and the trio. As ugly as Ginny is in the movies, she's missing the mental retardation and physical deformaties that I normally picture Ginny as having.

 

Yeah thats not a very good look for Tonks, the hair is just too normal but i guess we will just have to wait till the movie is out and see her acting before making the final judgement. Lets give it the benefit of the doubt, it could actually be good.

 

Whilst the picture quality is crap and we have no idea what her acting is like, from that image I have the horrible feeling that we are about to see a sudden growth in emo/attempt rock (Good Charlotte) Tonks in the world of fanfiction. I really hope i'm wrong but just look at the effect Rickman had on Snape's fanon character compared to the canon one.

 

It could just be that they're trying to make Tonks/Remus to seem not so immoral. I mean we don't care about that but a good number of people will..

 

Well my first impression was not positive, however hopefully for the movie they will do some CG and make her hair short and spiked. Really when you compare the actress to what JK described her as, there is not much in common.

That is not Tonks. Why, you might be asking? Because she didn't even get me half up. Tonks is hawt peoples, she's smoking hot. She should be so hot, I would get turned on by her even if she was in the same frame as Ginny and Snape. Her ultra-hotness powahs should pwn all.

This is somewhat of a moot issue for me, as I haven't watched any of the movies nor do I have any inclination to do so. I did check up on them though, especially the castings. This is no different to the rest of them. Fleur is supposed to be a part Veela ffs! I'm not saying the actor is ugly, she certainly isn't, but she's supposed to be "ethereally beautiful" or some such. She looks more like Malfoy's sister. Some are suitable, such as Radcliffe making for a good Harry. But for the most part, Patils didn't look like the "best looking girls in the school", Cho was not hot enough and Hermione wasn't buck-toothed and frizzy-haired. All in all, my mental images were far better. That seems to be the case in most book-to-image conversions though, so I'm not surprised. And just for the record, all quotes are para-phrased.

 

i agree w/ whoever said they were trying to make the rl/nt ship look better, they r figuring that if they make tonks look like an older business woman (imo) then it will b okay. im not sure ill even see this one, the 4th and to a lesser extent the 3rd just ruined it for me

It looks nothing like the picture you guys found. I don't know what to think of it. This one doesn't fit my image of Tonks either. She just looks like a "rebel without a cause" or a punk-wanna-be.

No, I don't really like her either. I think that actually may be Radcliffe, just exploring his alternative side. Do you really blame him, giving that he has to work with Grint?

I nearly had a heart-attack when I saw this. I didn't know what bothered me more -- the thick lips or the melodramatic pose/expression. The hair is quite disturbing as well, when you have in mind JKR's description. Hard to imagine her with short pink hair.

But the lips!! I don't know why I'm blocking on her lips -- they look like they've undergone an injection of Helium. I really, really, REALLY hope that's a trick of the light/makeup/whatever but I need to be reassured!!

(Please, don't try to read the comments. When I read them I felt ashamed those people and I were born in the same country. Someone even asked "but who is tonk?" )
