    I was reading OoTP in a moment of my spare time, and noticed something. On page 614 (US Edition; Ch. 27, The Centaur and the Sneak) a potrait in the Headmaster's office says something along the lines of how corrupt the Ministry is.

    Dumbledore then says, "Thank you, Fortescue, that will do,"

    Hmm, ancestor of the current ice-cream vendor, maybe? Anyways, maybe Florean Fortescue isn't just a random kidnapping, maybe there's something deeper within his capture. Thoughts?

    That is a good point there. Maybe the old headmwaster had an obsession with ice cream that he passed on to his kids.

    See this is a good point but now the question becomes what did Florean possible know that made him important...I think, since most magical school are secretive, a ex-headmaster of hogwards wouldn't give knowledge about the school to his family...maybe it has something to do with what the ex-headmaster did in his life outside of school...*shrugs* i donno

    He knew how to make the best ice-cream in the Wizarding World, duh. Why else would Voldlmouldy capture him? For info? Naw, for the freezeing charms that are used to make the ice-cream so that he has new ways to torture peeps.

    I dont know why they took him... its weird. He gave Harry free ice creams... maybe thats why?

    I think in this case 'Fortescue' is a first name...Dumbledore doesn't usually refer to people by their last name.

    He will say Mr. Potter, but not Potter

    Maybe Voldemort has a little weakness (heaven forbid) to Ice cream and decided that he could, 1: feed his ice cream needs and desires and 2: Deny the wizarding world of the joy of ice cream, thus making people depressed and unmotivated to fight and defend themselves

    oooook! that is god to be one of the wiredest shit i have read. just imagine in the headline news "YOU KNOW WHO JUST KIDNAPPED FLOREAN FORTESCUE! IS THE WORLD DOOMED! "shudders" just thinking about it gives me the creeps.
