Rindou better win, unless she's going to intentionally throw the match for as of yet unstated reasons.

Oooor we could accept that Megumi and Aldini are good cooks and have an actual shot at taking her down?

I mean sure, she's hot, but unless you're hugplx, I don't see how that should be enough to support her in everything.

Their good cooks, they couldn't get to this point if they weren't, but good enough to beat someone with three years of experience at Tootsuki and one of its best cooks? Unlikely.

Note that I said 'a shot'. No doubt Rindou is a class above them still, but they could still pull a fast one somehow. Their difference in skill is not that huge that a loss on Rindou's part should instantly mean she threw the match.

It's happened before, with Megumi/Souma's turnover on Shinomiya. Shinomiya blows the two out of the water, but they eked out a win(kinda) anyway.

Wait, I just noticed on the family tree panel; papa Nakiri isn't a Nakiri by blood? Why does he have their name then?

It's not uncommon, especially for in traditionalist countries like Japan, for the husband to take the more influential family's name instead. The Nakiri family is played up to be some real bigshots (and Cooking apparently rules the world) so I'm not surprised that he took the Nakiri name.

Hopefully Azami meets a similar end.

Alice's branch of the family seems so much more interesting than pretty much every other group of characters and yet they get so little focus >_>

Wonder how all these matches are going to progress. Feel like they are either going to be interrupted or their end score will be dismissed for some flimsy "well technically" reason. I just don't see most of them winning and I see no appeal in having most of the supporting cast being thrown out of the academy.

Honestly, still feel that the stakes of this arc are premature. This should have happened in their second year.

    New manga chapter.

Souma serves first, will probably lose because of it.

Hasn't there been a couple of times where he's served first and won?

I don't think so. Someone else might have done that (I think maybe Kurokiba in his match against that Central tard) but I don't believe Souma has done. He has lost when going second, though.

He lost both times to Hayama who served first.

So the recent vs Hayama chapter seemed a lot like an entire chapter espousing Hayama's badassery then suddenly asspulling the "Oh, there's a SAUCE!"

I dunno, it was really annoying. If there was a Schrodinger's Gun and the sauce was mentioned before maybe, but it felt like it came out of nowhere.

He's won that way before - against Nikumi.

She made the better meat, but Soma had the better, 'can't stop eating' overall dish.

I mean they mentioned that they were both making sauce two chapters ago. And I can't remember if soma's did but hayama's plate was drawn with a big sauce bowl on it. Plus this is also the... third? Fourth? Time soma has used a soup/sauce addition to transform the dish. Its not exactly a new tactic.

Maybe it's because they both ate the meat already, rather than one by one without meat then with sauce.

It does seem weird to eat the dishes in alternating stages.

Don't think it's alternating stages so much as they're trying to judge all the ways the food could be eaten and judge them based on their individual merit as well. Chiefs might intend the food to be eaten, but it doesn't mean the customer will always comply.
