Erina is an all right character, not outstanding by any means, and a bit trapped in the tsundere trope, but not a complete cliché. Not more than most other characters in the manga. It's the tired shonen dynamic with the protagonist that drags her and him down.

Just hope Erina overcomes her trauma on her own and deals with her father her way and not by something lame like tasting Soma's and her fathers cooking, only to vote for Soma, but rather by out-politicking her father or something similar.

Do you really mean that? You know that Erina's assistant counts as Anyone But Megumi, don't you?

 

She's grown on me. The author missed a huge opportunity with her character though. Centrals new expulsion policy really resonated with her. Megumi going to the central camp could have led to some excellent drama/character development.

 

Why are you hating on Hisako, Menace?

 

I didn't even remember her name until I saw your post. That's how little her existence means to me. Hisako is the Megumi to Erina's Soma, making her less than a two-dimensional tsundere queen. She's sub-Erina.

 

True, but there is an excellent splash image of Hisako piloting a Souma-shaped giant robot, so that makes her better than Erina.

 

You're going to make this kind of argument, and you don't even bring up the possibility of Souma/Mimisaka?

And I like Hisako well enough. Dat turtle burger. Not on the top of my fleet of ships, but I'd be okay with it. She seems to be a bit less of a timid wallflower than Megumi, anyway. I just don't care for that character type in manga.

Huh, so I wonder if he will drum up a few judges that will actually do their job or if he is going to cook something so delicious smelling and looking that they can't help themselves from tasting it anyway. Could see Erina stepping in and providing the judges, actually.

 

In all fairness, Mimasaka would be top tier at bedroom role play .

 

I'm expecting Doujima and Friends to stop by just before the start of the match and bully their way into the judges chairs.

 

Several of the ex Polar Dorm alumni would probably be rather invested in keeping it open and more than willing to help. It helps that two of the current top ten students would chip in, even if Erina can't leverage all that much power, being "on the run" as she is.

 

I'm just going to parrot what I said for last week's chapter here. I'm expecting the Polar Star alumni to show up in force and pressure Eizan to play this fair. Not sure whether this will be a part of Souma's strategy though, since I kinda get the vibe that he went rogue on this one. I'm not sure the other Polar Stars even know that he's doing what he's doing right now.

I don't think we'll be seeing any alumni. Seems much too simple of a solution.

 

Agreed. Think the other dorm members will learn of the Shokugeki and Isshiki will rally the alumni.

I loved the part where he said, he was doing this for himself. It really helps break the mold of being selfless and all that. Makes him feel more real to me.

 

I'm disappointed in you Menace. Could have sworn Hayama would be your best girl.

I do kinda hate the current arc, though. It's like this isn't a cooking manga anymore. I don't want any of this angsty evil control father plot.

Btw, Erina is the most physically attractive, but Alice is the best girl.
