Presumably the Elite 10 isn't as simple as a progression of skill in cooking. We've already seen with Eizan that there are other factors that influence not only entry on the group, but also ranking beyond pure cooking skill.

Like how they made it a stomp but not by way of Asspull, even if people have been going apeshit over it. Which is primarily due to inferring the wrong stuff from the comments made.

I want Azami to try and recruit Soma, would love if it was successful as well.

 

Hum. Some interesting stuff went down in the latest chapter. We see a lot of perspectives from a lot of people.

Most people knew that, but I'm glad that they acknowledged the fact that Eizan wasn't really going all out by lieu of just deciding to take the fight seriously midway. It was too late by then. Even so, Soma was awesome with his little speech etc.

Isshiki was and remains a boss. Nice to see at least some Elite 10 members aren't caricatures. Isshiki just stood there, casually expecting Soma to win. And he was right.

Plot should progress quite quickly after this, I feel.

 

As long as we get more Rindou or Alice, idc.

 

Azami hype begins...

 

I give 10/10 to this chapter.

Yukihira continues to build his character and support structure, but at the same fucking time we have Azami make his move. And it looks like it'll be a very interesting next chapter.

I like the recent direction the manga has taken.

 

Now the 2 week wait begins though

Slightly more seriously, I'm not sure what to feel about where the manga's going right now. On the one hand, I despise the whole Central/Azami thing. It's complete nonsense, and not the fun kind the manga is built on, with an incredibly trite goal/motivation, the tsundere-actually-has-a-tragic-backstory thing at the center of it is uninteresting as all hell, and worst of all, Azami is the most bland cookie cutter villain possible. He's a stock character, taken directly from any number of other anime/manga with every reference to those works' subject of choice replaced by cooking.

At the same time though, Souma's character is more-or-less a perfect foil for the utter blandness of Azami, and the sheer level of not-giving-a-fuck he displays may very well make Azami halfway interesting. I find myself almost looking forward to the next chapter. I see Azami's whole visit going down one of two ways. The first, he comes in and tries to bigdick his way into reclaiming Erina, and Souma proceeds to give no fucks, which ends with Azami getting all kinds of riled, in that "I'm-blinded-by-rage-but-refuse-to-show-it" way that nearly defines his character archetype. Or alternatively, Azami came by to make vague-yet-ominous threats against Souma and the dorm, and Souma proceeds to give no fucks, which also ends with Azami getting riled.

Either way, it ends in one of the only ways Azami-type characters are bearable to watch, so it may end up alright. I'd still have vastly preferred Souma to continue trying to bash his way into the Elite 10 and dealing with all those shenanigans, but this may turn out to be acceptable.

Heh. Pretty good chapter. Azami continues to not fit into any stereotypical mold (at least not the terrible kind) and we have some interesting things happening there at the end.

Isshiki also standing up to Azami. Pretty cool detail right there.
