It is? Werewolves in HP are pretty lame. They have no special abilities and no separate culture. All they do is turn into a wolf every full moon.

 

Well, it's not like Rowling really went into detail with them at all. The werewolf psychology is good, simply take a look at Greyback and there's probably a heirachy, judging by the comments in canon about talking to the wolf packs. The whole point of fantasy is using imagination, taking ideas from canon and twisting them and such. A creature like a werewolf can be an interesting plot point, and having it as Lupin-centric is one of the few ways of stopping Creature!Harry with added buttsecks.

 

I just counted the posts that actually give a review of the story. There is an overwhelming total of three -- four if you count the OP. Anyone else?

 

The plotting seems like it's strong, encounter with Dementors triggers a memory of Remus becoming a werewolf, cue confrontation with his dad. Unfortunately that confrontation is dry and cliche. 'Never intended for you to find out this way...' etc.

The writing is very readable, but keeps diving into this stiflingly poetic prose again and again. It immediately got tiresome. The author opted to have Remus angst over his condition, which makes for inner conflict and immediately made it seem like a slash fanfiction.

He screams at night, which is reserved only for Harry. It annoys me when the author takes a non-pivotal character and tries to make him as tragic as the main character.

He isn't the only fucking werewolf in Britain. Fenrir Greyback was kicking ass, why isn't he kicking ass, he should be kicking ass. Or content himself with licking his own docilely in the Shrieking Shack. He has Wolfsbane, which rids him of every excuse he has to act emo.

Hagrid cast the Patronus charm. -1 point right there.

This is probably the definitive Remus-backstory fic. I don't really appreciate it. 2/5
