I'd hardly call Malignant Objects forgotten. It just hasn't updated in a while. But the idea is interesting.

Of Blood and Power hasn't been mentioned in a while, and it was one of the best indy!Harry fics out there. But again, this is because it hasn't been updated in ages.

Narcotic Effects will always remain one of my favourites, Right or Easy by razzle-dazzle-me is still my favourite time travel story, and the first few chapters of Inquiring Minds by C. Night are the best example of the Harry/Blaise ship. All of these are either Complete or Abandoned.

Niger Aquila's fics have also seem to have been forgotten, mostly due to the slow update rate.

 

It was definitely one of my favorite fics, too bad the author abandoned it.

I'm still pissed about that one. There are very few harry/fem!blaise fics out there, but this one is hands down the best one, yet the author abandoned it.

Shadow Play by Thor Nairda is one of the better ones, but due to a whole year of not being updated it has disappeared from most minds.

Queens Of Darkness, Ladies Of Light by Thalarian is one of the best fics that I have ever read. It has been a very long time since he updated so it is understandable why people don't remember it, yet I still wait for an update.

 

What about real forgotten fics that no longer are posted up on fanfiction or another site (I have noticed a few that are in the DLParchives, so there are likely more out there)?

 

My first discovered Azkaban!Harry fic was "Curse of the Banshees," by Sheyda. This was a couple of years ago, and I don't remember much of it except that it pulled some really intense emotional responses from me. Betrayed!Harry fics have been a guilty pleasure for me ever since.
I just checked, and none of her stuff has been updated since Oct '04. Does anyone know what happened to Sheyda?

Here be Monsters by Dzeytoun is a guilty pleasure for me, and since it was canon shafted and the author claimed to not like writing against canon, it will never be finished. Shame.

Love and Betrayal by feanor hasn't been updated for two years, and the author's yahoo group is pretty much dead, leading me to believe that it, too is abandoned. It's a Manipulative!Dumbledore, Independent!Harry story in which Draco becomes Veela and goes after Harry and Dumbledore decides it's "for the Greater Good". It's lots and lots of fun to watch Harry keep telling Draco to sod off because he's really not into boys.

My favorite Harry deaged story is New Beginning by Darkwriter7. Yeah, it needed a bit of proofreading, but it had plenty of Weasley hate to go around. Ron was an unmitigated bastard and Percy was, too. It hasn't been updated since 2003, so it will likely never be.

LOL. I've never been fond of the pairing, to be honest. Hell, I'm not fond of anything that pairs an underage student with a teacher. But it was ten years after Hogwarts, and it was okay under the circumstances of the story. I liked the deaged Harry bit, though.

 

I remember reading a very very long time ago an Hermione/Snape fanfiction, where the potion master was sent to Azkaban after it was found out he slept with Hermione (who was kinda a slut and slept with everybody including house elves). It was NC-17 and really... sick.

I think it was removed from FF.net though.

Anyway, my pick would be Rosswrock's HP & the Power of Time.

Since it took two years to make an update... and will take probably another two for the next chapter, I guess it's pretty much forgoten as a fanfiction. I didn't mind at the time the Harry/Ginny.

 

So I suppose mini-Harry was adopted by Sevvie-Poo and Hermy?

 

Hermione at first. Then again, I like Severituses...

Love and Betrayal is the one I'd really like updated. I mean, Harry was going to lengths like a year-and-a-day courtship ritual to avoid Draco's "You're mine" shenanigans. *g* A Female Blaise was one of the ones going to do the courting, too.

 

I have read a couple of Snape/Hermione fics that really really worked. But they all started out as a meeting of minds.

There is one great one - I can't remember the title. At first they were part of a team researching weapons to be used by the Order. They developed a solid working relationship. So then when things were getting desperate, they were paired as covert agents and some PsyOps. By the time Harry killed Voldemort, they were one of the top teams, and continued to be used to break the Pureblood Power base. By now Hermione was about twenty (and a seasoned campaigner,) and the relationship eventually became intimate. The point is that they grew to respect each other's strengths and had a positive relationship BEFORE they got involved romantically.

I've decided that there are authors that could make ANY pairing work.

 

I decided that there are some pairings that don't work for a reason.

And I don't need to go into detail there. Your mind can fill in the blanks.

 

Harry/Dobby.

 

Or Harry/The Doctor, I shit you not I have seen this, but I didn't have the balls to read. I'm awfully sure it wouldn't have worked.

This was the first Azkaban!Harry I ever read. The bonus feature was Harry/Bella, though it was a redeemed Bella. Sadly there haven't been any Azkaban!Harry's which are better than Lord Silvere's Earl Of The North. Unfortunately it was updated last 10-22-05, which has pretty much erased it from most memories.

How about Allusions of Power by ReflectionsOfReality? I remember it for an interesting manipulative!Dumbledore and some decent magical concepts; oh yeah, and an awful writing style.

Or The Hammer Falls by HankyPanky? Very good action and plot. Can't be found online ATM, other than at HPRecycleBin.

Or The Redemption of the Black Sisters by jon3776? That should be Harry/Narcissa/Bellatrix and a lot of fine action and ideas.
