Summary: Sirius hasn't the first clue who this green eyed stranger is exactly, but he's here now and somehow he's Sirius' problem. AU

Basic premise is Harry inexplicably ends up in another dimension where Lily is BWL(???) Harry from this universe is dead, and Voldemort was ressurected a year ago.

I'm 3 chapters in and I honestly think that so far its library worthy.

Note: This is my first rec, but I've been lurking here for a fair while so hopefully my grasp of what is, and isn't a potential library worthy fic is not too far off.

So you read 3 chapters of a story with 11 chapters and recommended it? Okay...

Also, nice link to chapter 5.

I had actually read 5 chapters... I didn't actually check what chapter I was on before posting.

Regardless... Having read the remaining chapters my recommendation stands.

I gave it a read. It didn't really capture my attention. Writing is ok though nothing exceptional.

I didn't find any hook in it. The idea is mildly intriguing and done well could have good. As it stands though, it is just plain boring.

Meh. Writing's solid. But it's 11 chapters of angst and nothing else. I realize there needs to be character interactions, Harry's gonna have some recurring and continuing issues, etc. and so forth. But after 11 chapters, all we've seen is Harry in Grimmauld place. Sirius discovered who Harry really is at the end of Chapter 11. That's the extent of anything that's happened in this story.

And that doesn't remotely interest me. Character interaction and development is all well and good, but when its 11 chapters of nothing but "There's a moody, depressed dimensional traveler in my house, how do I relate to him" I just don't care anymore.

And where it's left off now, the author's clearly set it up for another 11 chapters of nothing but, "He's Harry but not our Harry. How do we relate to each other." And quite frankly I have no interest in reading that.

The author also includes my pet peeve, an "unbreakable magic oath" made merely by swearing on one's magic. Canon provides a perfectly acceptable unbreakable oath know, coincidentally enough, as the Unbreakable Vow. Doing otherwise is lazy, panders to the worst cliches, and cheapens the fact that such a vow is a big fucking deal by making it seem trivial, unimportant and far too easily taken.

I also didn't like the appearance of a Hermione who's able to make fantastic leaps of logic with virtually no information. She takes the name of a spell, and with no other knowledge besides the most rudimentary of information about soul connections (no information about what the spell does, how it's accomplished, or Harry's personal history) and divines not only how the spell works, but that Harry performed it and has a soul connection to Voldemort.

It's just not believable. I'd buy that Dumbledore makes the connection because he knows all of the relevant information. I'd buy that Sirius and Hermione make the connection after combining what he and she know. But I absolutely cannot buy that Hermione makes all of these presciently accurate deductions from two paragraphs on soul connections and nothing else.

All in all, did not like. But it wasn't terrible if you like long, drawn out angst filled character studies that could be completed in two or three chapters being stretched to 4 times that length.

THIS. I fucking hate this. I cannot count how many times I've seen this in a fic. Inevitably it goes something like "I, Firstname Lastname, swear on my magic that ________, and if I'm lying then ___________".

It's extremely cliche, lazy, and a horrible contrivance 99% of the time. Either use the Unbreakable Vow or don't use anything at all. I'm fucking sick of these lazy ass vows that you can pull out of your ass to literally get out of any situation. GTFO with your "swear on my magic" bullshit.

'Immature' James and Sirius depictions as adults are so tiresome. Totally cookie cutter, no one needs to make any effort to write them because they've been written by a thousand other fanfic writers.

Quite a few cliches in this, which I don't mind if done well, but here they are more or less same old same old.

I think this story falls pretty solidly in 'average' = 3/5.

I quite enjoyed it, but I don't even see the point of reading further.
    It will not be finished.
There are 150 stories out there with the same plot, and they have never got further than Lily and James finding out. And neither will this one, once he can't write to the blueprint anymore it will end.

Mira Mirths "Across the Universe" is probably the most successful version of this, because it doesn't even attempt to have a plot.

I loved it as this shit is my guilty pleasure, but its not going anywhere.
