I'd wanted to do something similar to the Foundation for a pretty long time. It would go something like this...

The Foundation would be Dumbledore, Hari Seldon a dead wizard, and Harry a person who rebels against the idea after finding out about it. Some backgrounds would be as such:

Due to the low population of Magical Beings, they are mostly a static society, not indulging in much innovation. Somebody, Let's call him Hari, had predicted through advanced Arithmancy and Seers, that it was an impossibility for wizarding kind to remain hidden for too much longer. He had also devised indelible proof that the two, almost sub-species of the human race, would eventually wage war.

So, instead of trying to fruitlessly develop magic, that he believed had reached a stretching point, a barrier, beyond which it couldn’t become much more intricate, he instead decided to Plan the future.

A lot of fics have Harry gain memories, but here it would be Dumbles who gained some of Hari's memories because among all, Hari thought he[Dumbles] was the brightest, the strongest and most importantly, the most innocent enough to be manipulated.

Dumbles was now set forth on a strange but public enough path that would set him amongst the top of the world.

Enter Harry and the Prophesy. Letting the prophesy be real, I’ve thought of two AU’s in which this could progress

i) The weaker one, but still intresting, would be Dumbles manipulating Harry to gain nothing But glory and fame, and with that, comes More power. Merely being near the top isn’t enough for him ego anymore, and anyway, he believes he could do much better at the peak. So you have Indy! Harry with a twist… whether he goes along the Hari Plan in his own way, as his own Agent, or he follows Dumbles… and then, there’s always Voldemort, an independent variable Hari hadn’t counted for… (Plot hole: if plan was of utmost importance why didn’t Dumbledore dispose of Riddle. A solution I’ve been able to dig up, but would need to be, of course, greatly expanded… Dumbledore belived that Riddle of would hasten the process of Decay… a society in fear cannot advance. The more manipulative and Brilliant the man, the better it would be.)


ii) The stronger reason, Dumbledore trains Harry to be a successor. Again, string are attached and the final string would be a passing of memories from Dumbles to Harry, cause that would irrevocably alter Harry’s perspective to that of Dumbles and consequently, to that of Hari. So, again, would the memories be transferred? Would Harry agree? Or would he become indy! Would Harry try to stop Dumbledore’s plan. And always, there’s Voldi to reckon with…


Now the plan’s the coup d’etat. I’ve got a few ideas for it, nothing to concrete. Hell, this whole this is kinda vague, but I think it would make a pretty interesting fic, if someone decides to think it out and actually make it.
