I can't say I'm surprised by any of the most recent FFN fuckery. I've been reading fanfiction since 2007, and in that short(ish) time I've heard of more than a couple seemingly mindless admin delete-a-thons.

I appreciate the ease of FFN, little that I've posted there, and would welcome PC as the only spot for my meager story offerings but for one thing: as much as I hate to admit it, I really enjoy reviews.

Moksha and Geminio are posted at both PC and FFN. I posted at both sites at the same time, for each story. Moksha has 16 reviews on FFN and Geminio has 24. No, that's not much and I didn't write either for the sake of reviews. Still, Moksha has 2 reviews on PC while Geminio has fuck-all. And as generic and worthless as reviews are in general, only one of the PC reviews is worth reading.

So yeah, I love the idea of PC and will continue to post here, there and at FFN when/if I get these plot bunnies wrangled into something I'm not entirely ashamed of. The bottom line for me is that the only people I want feedback from are on this site, so after all is said and done, FFN's shenanigans don't mean much to me.

 

Yeah... part of the reason FFN is so popular is because FFN is so popular.

More eyes means more ego stroking and, let's face it, egos enjoy the stroking.

Having said that, I would use the shit out of PC... if I were the type to write in contiguous chapters, finish stories, and do worthwhile things. I have nothing on either site.

 

I thought when I first saw slash and "Dramione" stories pop up on PC that the end was near.

 

God, please none of that crap on PC - there are few to none exceptions for slash, as a genre, in general - most of it is just mindless cock-guzzling/fan-wank by sexually repressed 13 year olds.

And unless "Dramione" means Malfoy or his father imperiusing or brainwashing Hermione into being a mindless mistress or sex-slave, that's treated like you would with shit on your shoe, instead of a 'forbidden romance' story, I doubt there are any exceptions to this genre out there, too.

FFn still has a lot of users, but many are hitting the other fiction sites - Patronus Charm may need some moderators on there to flag the crap, if the influx hits us.

True, but unless quality control in the most broadest sense isn't taken, it could very well quickly degenerate into a second FFn, if people flood over.

Do you really want to see scores of stories, such as those terribad ones seen on the main FFn HP archive, fill up PC?

(And by terribad, I mean; "Potions accident turerns Haery gay for draco and Severus, slash mprg!").

 

Yeah, PC might be more inclusive- but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have our standards lapse. Raven did not put the work into that site that he did to watch it become a repository for exiled shit.
