Regarding insane medical expenses: I broke my arm at the end of October. All together, that cost me about $20,000.

Now, you're probably thinking, "This is the funny picture thread. Those pictures aren't funny!" The funny part is the story behind them.

I was watching my parents' house while they were out of town and taking care of their dog.

My normal practice was to get up at 8:00am to let the dog outside, feed it, and go back to bed. This day, I did that, but also left open a door to the garage for him, because it was cold. An hour later, I hear him whining at my window, so I get up to let him in. Then I go to close the door to the garage.

He had laid a trap for me. He chewed through a bottle of grease. I didn't see it in time, slipped, and landed on my elbow.

Now, I was laying on the cold, cement floor of the garage, in my underwear, covered in grease, with a broken arm, and crying. It was so slick I couldn't even stand up, so I slid on my butt to the kitchen, leaving a slug trail of grease in my wake, and used a hand towel to get some of the grease off of me. Then I sat on a kitchen chair to get myself together.

I woke up some time later on the floor, the chair I had been sitting in on its side next to me.

I then go sit in the bath and try to get the rest of the grease off of me. With that accomplished, I called my brother, who left work to come drive me to the hospital.

Truly, one of the lowest points of dignity in my life.

That *is*an excellent story, but… WTAF? I think I read somewhere a while ago that in Germany, a broken arm will cost your insurance ~3,000 Euro. Is that massive difference just the fact that it‘s the elbow rather than a (presumably simpler) forearm fracture?
Or is it an insane, US-style medical bill?

A big part of the reason is that the break was bad enough that I needed surgery. Also, I don't have insurance.

I know the word for a person who plays the trumpet is trumpeter, but I still think this every time.

saw comments that I missed- Magneto is a holocaust survivor, but the point was that they’re villains supporting him.

For some reason, it really annoys me that the picture has 6 Marvel and, what, 2 DC?

You'd think you'd be more annoyed that Vader is there considering there rest are all completely fucking irredeemable.
