In the same spirit as the Films of the Decade thread. As with that, looking back made me realise how many well-regarded games have completely passed me by (or, in several cases, I've bought and not got round to playing for one reason or another...) I'm going to do a year by year best/runner-up, but feel free to use your own method. I'm also restricting myself to games I've completed.

    2010:
    Best - Mass Effect 2
    Runner-up - Limbo

    2011:
    Best - Skyrim
    Runner-up - Dark Souls

    2012:
    Best - Mass Effect 3
    Runner-up -Dishonored

    2013:
    Best - Tomb Raider
    Runner-up -Bioshock Infinite

    2014:
    Best - Child of Light
Runner-up -N/A; apparently Child of Light was the only game I played that game out this year

    2015:
Best - Life is Strange season 1
Runner-up -Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

    2016:
    Best - Uncharted 4
    Runner-up -Hitman 2016/No Subtitle

    2017:
    Best - Mass Effect: Andromeda
Runner-up -What Remains of Edith Finch

    2018:
    Best - Spider-Man
    Runner-up -God of War

    2019:
    Best - Control
    Runner-up - A Plague Tale: Innocence

If we're counting the decade from 2010 to 2019, then, from the games I've played:

    3rd place: Mass Effect 2

2nd place: Mass Effect 3 --- ME2 is a better singleplayer (though ME3 isn't without its moments) just on the strength of the companion crew, but I spent hundreds of hours in the ME3 multiplayer. I squeezed everything out of this game

1st place: Minecraft --- if you try to tell me that Minecraft is a game of the previous decade because it was first released in 2009, I'm gonna laugh at you

So apparently I do with games like I do with fanfiction---keep going back to old favorites. I've spent a lot of time in the 2010s replaying games instead of playing new ones.

@Shinysavage I am offended to see ME:A sharing a post about best games with Trilogy MEs.

I can only choose from the games I played...and I played ME:A a lot. I started a fourth play through a few weeks ago, and across the various playthroughs I've probably put about as much time into it as I did into Skyrim over a much longer period.

I'm not gonna bother breaking it down by year, as I honestly don't remember when most of these came out, but the best games of the last decade or so are, in no particular order:

    Witcher 3
    The Surge
    Doom
    Battletech
    Bloodborne
    Sekiro
    Darksiders
    The Stanley Parable
    Vermintide 2
    XCOM 2
    God of War

Honorable mention to One Finger Death Punch and Stellaris

    Edit:
And @ScottPress Andromeda is a legitimately great game. It's buggy as all fuck, so absolutely not gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but if you can put up with the technical issues, it's really quite good.

I think Banished (2014) and Stardew Valley (2016) both have to be on there somewhere.

I'm just going to mention Persona 5 because nobody else has yet.

Also feel like I should nominate Fire Emblem: Three Houses, considering the almost 300 hours I've sunk into it since its release a few months back.

Can't recall when Path of Exile first released, but if that was during this decade then I'd put that into the pool as well.

Poe was released in 2013, and is absolutely the game of the decade for me.

I'd probably agree, considering the ridiculous number of hours I've put into it over the course of so many leagues.

Going by the games I played the most this last decade I'd say Skyrim, Starcraft 2, Breath of the Wild, Persona, FE: Three Houses, Stardew Valley, SMT IV, and whatever Pokemon games came out during this time period.

I'd say I replay Skyrim the most and continue to greatly enjoy myself doing it, so Skyrim wins GotD for me.

Sort of not part of the decade but the official release was during this decade.

    Minecraft.

    2010: Fallout New Vegas
    2011: Skyrim
    2012: Mass Effect 3
    2013: GTA V
    2014: Dragon Age: Inquisition
    2015: Bloodborne
    2016: Sun and Moon
    2017: I don't really know. I wasn't really active this year I guess
    2018: God of War
    2019: The Outer Worlds

    I fought hard on 2010 between F:NV and ME2 and Pokemon Black/White

My #1 out of this list would be ME3 with New Vegas right behind.

If the question was what game have I enjoyed the most over the decade I would say Spiderman PS4.

The best game overall is either Skyrim, The Witcher 3, or GTA V.

Spiderman was so close for me. There were a few things in the game that infuriated me too much for it to take that award for me...

None of which would have mattered in the slightest if it had the art style of Spiderverse though. And I will never stop beating that dead horse.

Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age Trilogy, Guild Wars 2, Minecraft, Battletech, Stellaris, Rainbow Six Siege, Total War: Warhammer 1&2, Subnautica and GTA V are all on the list.

And I'm amazed none of you listed Civilization V. I know some of you have played it.

My favorite games are probably DA:Origins, ME1, and GW2 out of those listed though.

Released in late 2009, or else I would have listed it myself.

I got bored of it, generally. Increasing the difficulty beyond level six just makes the computers' units more powerful.

Ah, but Awakenings which completed Origins imo released in March 2010, so it can be argued that DR:O is a game of this decade, if you count the full experience.
    --- Post automerged ---
Oh, I get bored of it easily too, that's why it's not on my list. But lots of people consider it one of the great games, so I'm just surprised no one had listed it.
