O RLY? Then perhaps you'd be interested in this and this?

Lucius wishes he were a pimp. In OoTP Harry made him his bitch and in DH he was Voldie's bitch. Although I seem to recall in one fic (a Harry/Narcissa story, maybe) he was so desperate for the money he was supposed to be giving to Voldemort that he was planning to pimp Narcissa out in order to get it.

    If this sinks the ship/concept of McGonagall/Dumbledore . . .

We can say its a good thing, right?

    I'm not a big fan of the character but . . .

    *edit*
Then again I really don't like Dumble playing priest to Potter playing choir boy . . . poor poor Harry

Think Voldemort knew/suspected/found out in a horrifing manner?

I saw this in the news and I was - frankly - flabbergasted. I had to laugh, however, at Saruman's post, which points out that Dumbledore's oddness now fits a stereotype instead of being the mark of a person who thinks "outside the box".

I have to agree as well that JKR's habit of dribbling out information like this is either her poorly-thought-out attempt to tie up loose ends, or a rather cynical ploy to continue generating media attention.

Are you saying that is why Dumbledore is the only wizard that Voldemort ever fears...... or he became a dark lord to protect his ass from pervie old men?

It doesn't really bother me. As long as it's not in the book, it's not canon. That's always been my stance. So what if she created the HP Universe? If it's not in the book, it means it doesn't deserve to be canon.

So whatever she has spouted in her interviews or appearances are all pure garbage to me. So too will her HP Encyclopaedia (if she does write one). I only consider Books 1-7, along with the companion books, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" and "Quidditch Through The Ages" to be canon.

That being said, the level of insanity and nonsense in her recent interviews and stuff is mounting. I bet anything she had never intended for Dumbledore to be gay while writing Book 7. Just proves my opinion that now that the series is over, she is starting to pander even more to certain elements of fandom. It is nothing new though- it had already started with the whole "Snape is in love with Lily, and went back to the Light after her death" farce.

I can't help but feel my respect for JKR dipping drastically every time she opens that big mouth of hers. I used to admire her a lot, but with the disappointments of Books 6 and 7, as well as the inane interviews and shit like that, my admiration for her has all but evaporated.

Where the hell did this come from? What was the point in making dumbledore gay? What, the idea that people around you could be/are closet gays? whoopdie fucking doo.

All this is an attempt to keep people interested in her and works, by dribbling out pieces of information that have have absolutely no backing in the books, and gives all the slash writers more reason to keep up with the bullshit.

That's the part that irks me, too. Thus a part of Dumbledore's character is reduced to a crude cliché.

Either that ... or perhaps she was stoned?

Harry lookd at his son Albus Severus Potter. "You were named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. One was the greatest wizard I've ever known and the other was the bravest man I've ever known."

"But Dad, everyone's saying Dumbledore was a poof."

    "Yes he was."

    "You named me after him!"

    "Out of respect."

"I'm so going to get my arse kicked at school. I'll just go by my middle name. Why was Severus so brave?"

"He was Dumbledore's duty punch. Apparently, after your grandmother broke his heart, he went that way. It would take a brave man to do that..."

As Albus boarded the train, he began thinking of any anagrams he could make out of Albus Severus Potter...

Wow just when you thought she couldn't stoop any lower she proves you wrong. What a cunt, she's just doing all this so that she stays in the media. Wtf? Dumbledore being gay with Grinderwald?

She fucking tarnished his image and name forever, this pisses me off to no end.

OotP: " I loved you too much Harry" from Dumbledore. That is nasty a 150+ old, wrinkly, gay, probably virgin, old man and 15 year old boy.

And theres still 2 movies left.

Let's not go to the extreme. Just because he's gay doesn't mean he's a pedophile or that he needed to make advances towards men other than Gellert. While there are plenty of men who do this treatment to women and there are certainly homosexuals who make advances towards other men in the same manner, Dumbledore was well-mannered.

    Don't be a jackass.

Let's differentiate from being homophobic and being disgusted with Rowling's desire to take all the unknown out of the book.

If anything, be angry that she's continuing a stereotype in which people who are eccentric - who wear clothing that's irregular, who speak differently or who act odd - are propped up as homosexuals. That's not only disgusting, it's far from the truth.

Why not Sirius Black? Remus Lupin? Harry Potter? How about an in-the-book homosexual? Oh, what's that? You'd rather do it at a Liberal college long after your final book has hit the stands?

    Real backbone.

Yeh I remember that one - trust me you don't want the link. It wasn't H/Narcissa. Rather, it was super!Harry training in the chamber of secrets and snappy dialogue like. "Harry, you must help me - my father is going to use my mother as a whore if we cannot raise the money for Voldemort."

I don't think it's updated in forever, but I quit reading it months ago when it became obvious this was a Snape/Harry friendship thing.

I think... this has killed any lingering hint of admiration at the books. She's tarnished his character beyond what any fanfiction could do in my mind, because now I'm never going to be able to think of him as just Dumbledore. Now he's Dumbledore, the gay man.

It's not that I dislike gay people, just that I don't want to read about them. My image of him in my mind is ruined now... Damn.
