Just found out you guys play LoL, I wouldn't mind getting into the tournament if you still have a opening.

 

Is there going to be "the rest of us" teams, for those of us with no friends?

The new Wit's End is much better than it used to be, but it's certainly not better than Liandry's. As for throwing an Abyssal Scepter into the mix, it simple depends on how the game is going and whether or not the enemy has heavy magic damage. But usually, it would end up being Wit's End or Abyssal, just simple depends.

Not related to the tournament, but I had a funny experience today. I was experimenting with different starting builds for Kat and tried Doran's and two pots, kindly asking the support if they had a spare ward for me. When I gave first blood due to a silly mistake, our Yi starts raging at me, saying that he knew as soon as I bought a Doran's Ring that I was terrible. I thought this was pretty funny, because I didn't know this was thought about the Doran's items (so gold efficient :3). Anyway, I didn't respond to him until two minutes later, when I killed the enemy laner 1v1, just saying, 'Glad I got that Doran's." He stopped speaking in chat, and I proceeded to snowball the game. Yi then ragequit at some point, but it didn't actually matter (I was like 15-2 at that point, and bot was fed) and we cleaned up the game with no trouble.

 

Wait, you got a Doran's ring as Katarina?
That is kind of silly, since doran's ring gives mana regen, and Katarina has no mana

 

Dorans start isn't bad at all. But a Dorans start on Katarina is terrible. The item is nice and good efficient when you include the mana Regen and such, but on a manaless champion it is just a wasted stat. You are probably better off starting boots, amp time if you are ballsy and confident, or the occasional null for faceroll

 

Doran's shield vs AD = lulz on Kat. Just saying.

 

To be fair, although the MRegen on Kat is completely wasted, a Doran's Ring still provides health and AP. Based on sheer cost and efficiency, there is no other item start that gives that combination of stats for a champion.

 

Katarina is a stupid champion.

 

Although the mana regen is wasted, it offers 3 mana regen/5 -- this equates to roughly 180 gold. The overall value of the item is around 660. It's still cost efficient -- I don't just buy random shit in the store and hope it works out, there are typically numbers behind whatever I'm trying.

I can also confirm that Katarina is indeed a very silly champion.

 

It's still cost efficient if you are comparing to other items that can be upgraded. Unless you are planning for a level 2-3 kill (pretty dificult on Katarina unless your opponent is stupid), it's just a waste of gold that can be better spent on preparing for your mid game where you are much stronger.
