Yeah I'd tend to agree but if you're buying them both anyway it doesn't make a big difference which order. And Morellonomicon gives you a bigger damage boost for less money than the grail. Grail is pretty shit at the moment tbh, compared to what it used to be.

 

Defensive item on Lux is leery because there's really no defensive item that goes well on her, unless you count Grail's MR. Zhonya's isn't great on her because usually if you have to use it, you'll be murdered the moment after you do. And there's really no other defensive items available to a AP burst mage.

 

Rylai's isn't bad on Lux for a general hp item. Abyssal isn't great but can work if you're getting burst down by an ap assassin. Banshee's is good against some champs.

Zhonya's is great against like every assassin, and a lot of bruisers, it won't save you every time but it's a must buy against Zed or Yasuo and at the very least it will buy some time so your team might be able to help you.

Personally I think the best defensive stat on her might be movement speed. Getting early alacrity enchantment helps out a lot with positioning. I even run ms quints into some really bad matchups.

 

So I just tried out a game of Quinn. Damn she's fun. Requires a lot more roaming than I'm used to, but I'll adjust. 1400 movespeed OP.

Played her into an Irelia. I don't know how that matchup is supposed to go, but it went alright. Died to an early gank that I knew was likely, then 1v1'd her for a kill. After I died to a poorly executed all in, I decided to try out roaming... and picked up 5 kills. Ended up highest damage to champs in the game.

Ended up winning after the hyper fed Yasuo made a single bad engage and cost them the game. We were down 7k gold. Double ADC pushing power OP.

 

1400 speed? We~ak. I had 2117 several games back. I think that was before 'free Homeguards', too, which opens up Alacrity/Furor now. Shiv/Rapidfire + Mobis with Homeguard counting toward speed, rank 3 ult, and possibly fifth Dragon. Got to roughly the second enemy tower location in mid before the Homeguard faded.

Realistically, though, I usually go Swiftness, not Mobi, for even more combat kiting on top of passive, and more speed even if I'm flying by minions(Bloodthirster shield keeping me in ult, ho~) although I do like when I can afford to go Lucidity(presuming I don't have blue for that last 10% anyway).

 

You get less movespeed now because they nerfed Homeguard's movespeed to counterbalance it being free. It now scales with level.

 

I'm pretty curious to see Master Yi's new max move speed dance. If only we had a toxic mode in which I could test it.

 

The harshest lesson.

 

To be fair, that fight is absolutely Illaoi's best case scenario, where he has a tentacle already out, pulls the adc's soul for extra damage on him and gets a 5man ultimate in an enclosed space.

I've not found him all that hard to handle actually. He loses multiple match ups at top lane pretty hard, like Renekton, and he has no reliable gap closer to get a good ulti off if you don't go offering it to him like in that fight.

True, if you stand still under his tentacles he can bitch slap you hard, but he has quite enough weaknesses to play around and most of his damage is pretty easily avoided actually.

New Poppy skillset looks alright. But I fucking bought Lollipoppy ages ago just for the terror of that face, and I'm kind of salty that riot is taking that away from me.

Zhonya's defenses is more than enough against AD champs in lane. Just rush it, and you will outburst almost all AD champs.

IMO, Morrellonomicon is more than enough mana regen for Lux. If not, add an extra dorans ring and you'll be fine too. As a side note, I really like the new seal item on Lux. It's cheap and easy to build up stacks, and if you are doing well you can build into the Mejais. If not, just build something else. This is way less of a commitment then getting Mejais before.

 

You can survive with only morellonomicon for mana regen, but it does really constrict your spell usage. You have to be a lot more conservative, can't spam your E and ult to farm, need to be much more careful about throwing out Qs in the hope of getting a pick. Morello + regular blue buffs is enough to survive.

The Dark seal is honestly bad on Lux, unless you are going to straight rush a mejais and have an easy lane. It really gimps your early game, you have absolutely no mana sustain until you buy an item and are even squishier than usual.

 

I'm getting really sick and tired of these shitty minigames they're making us play. This 3 Tentacle thing is probably one of the most pointless activities i have to do. It's basically a giant time sink most of the time.

 

Let's not forget the walk back from base due to Poppy ulti minigame that is being introduced. Wait what?

 

Yeah but you'll be so mana starved you won't be able to burst anyone at all
