I guess there's that. Still, man. Fucking sucks. I've barely any emotional investment at all in Mad, RGE or FNC. I'll cheer for them on an abstract level during Worlds I guess, but G2 was the only team that ever got my blood pumping like mad (for good or ill). Hopefully Perkz can revitalize my broken heart lol.

 

Think of it this way. Even if they'd managed to claw past FNC, they would have gotten their skulls caved in, in their current form. And it's not a fluke, either. They've been shit all split.

True enough. Though a part of me thinks that with international scrims and a bit more time they might've turned it around. A load of copium naturally, but hey, it is what it is.

 

I had the same thought, but then I had a similar thought about play offs. Surely they would get serious for playoffs. Then earlier about Summer Split. Then about weeks 3+, etc. The truth is, they're slumping. Hopefully they come back stronger but for now, they're not good enough.

 

Sad but true. They weren't the hottest in 2020 either, but it really does look like the intangibles Perkz brought to the team as leader were incredible and difficult to replace on the fly. They look so tense and tilted most of the time these days, it's difficult to watch. I'm also uncertain if the roster will stay as is. I could see Wunder being let go for example, which is damn sad. I love his banter, even if at the end he couldn't back it up anymore.

 

It’s cool to brag about not practicing and playing WoW when you’re winning but when you’re not it just becomes facetious.

 

The WoW memes were funny for a while, but that was hardly the only time he bantered. He had so many bangers lol. I still remember him being fined for opening paint and writing WTF is going on in pro view lol.

I see a lot of people calling for miky to go aswell, I didn't watch the whole series as I was asleep for the first half but miky has been doing pretty decent this split individually.

Its more a team issue, and wunder has been getting gapped all year in lane phase. Brokenblade is off contract im assuming he'll end up at g2, but that still wont fix most of the issues although an extra winning lane goes a long way. Draft has been shit for ages, and the team just isnt geling. Rekkles personality really doesnt suit g2, it has nothing to do with skill. Just see the face cams at the start of any match. He really needs to relax, it will actually help him win more ironically.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the coaching staff.

G2 not banning tf reminded me of fnc not banning ryze against fpx in 2019 when doinb was smashing them. Theres no pride in refusing to admit someone is popping off.

Weirdly enough I think the only one not slumping fairly hard was Jankos. He had a bunch of popoff performances. Caps wasn't Craps, but he wasn't carrying either.

We live in a world where Jankos performs the best in G2. This is our reality.

 

Dunno, Jankos was a ward in the Mad Lions series. G2 suffered from success, it'll be interesting to see if they'll be able to bounce back from it.

 

I did find it funny that in Euphoria they didn't even rate him among the 5 top LEC junglers. Nidalee memes aside, that guy has been on a tear for ages now. Even in the games they lost I never felt that it was him underperforming. Rather all lanes got curbstomped or had no prio from draft, and that easily translated into the jungle.

In scrims they're supposedly insane, but it just didn't translate onto stage. It's so surreal to talk of weak mental when referring to G2.

 

How good has Bwipo being going for jg though. Certainly no Inspired, but for his first split his been good, outside of certain games which can be forgiven. It makes sense, someone as mechanically gifted as him, put him on a role that is more active and allows him to roam earlier than when he was on top. Maybe he kept inting because he was bored?

 

I agree. From all I've seen content-wise, Bwipo has strong opinions on how the game should be played, and he's got extensive knowledge to back up those thoughts. A more active role that gives him agency to influence the game according to his views seems optimal for him. If nothing else it'll be interesting to see how he stacks up against international competition.

 

Rogue really is the new origin when it comes to playoffs.

 

FNC clean af. Almost unfair. They got the wife buff. And I also think that playing so many games in playoffs can only be good for them going forward. They start to look pretty monstrous.

 

It's going to be a very interesting game. I definitely think momentum counts.

I think all summer split FNC at it's highest mid split looked absolutely scary and dominant, but then they fell off towards the end. So peak FNC vs Mad with playoff buffs? I can't call it. If FNC keep the momentum I'd say them, but MAD really step it up in playoffs so this is going to be a great series. Hopefully.

 

Well well well. Never thought I'd see such a G2 resurgence. Crowd!Caps hits like a truck lol. I'm pretty stoked for MSI. If they manage to keep this form, we've got some banger games incoming.
