Are they ranked or unranked games?

I play on a level 28 account at the moment... Quit the game a while back and when I returned, felt that playing level 30s wouldn't be conducive to relearning or enjoying the game : /

If it possible to play offline? Not got net access very often when out of town, and I want to start learning how to play this since you lot seem to love it so much

 

Sadly, no.

 

One good thing going for it is that it is very lightweight. I'm living in college apartments with the internet provided through the complex, and during peak hours I can get as little as 200 kb/s download. Sometimes it's so bad I can't even stream 240p youtube videos without letting them have 10 minutes of prebuffering, but I can still play LoL without any problems where most other games fail me.

 

Yeah I see why, the graphics themselves are way, way, way below what I'd normally bother with, but the art style more then makes up for it. Some of the skins are just flat out awesome!

Played the tutorial maps, trying to figure out how to play practice maps against just bots, I tried what I thought was right and got tossed into a 5 players vs bots map. I want bots+me vrs bots until I get to where I don't look stupid. I see that it's hectic as shit, and I didn't even get the item purchasing aspect of it until late in my tutorial game, nor did I see that killing the creeps got you bonuses.

I played Rhyse and got my shit kicked in by a walking tree plenty of times until I started rooting the bastard and kiting him. Very spaztastic twitchy gameplay, not bad. I can see how you guys get caught up for hours in this. I'll def. have to read more on it.

 

To get a match with just you and nine bots; make a custom game and then add nine bots.

 

Did you play battle training? It's the second tutorial that is unlocked after doing the proving grounds and it covers most of what you need to know while pausing the game to let you know when you need to back off from a tower or minions and also gives you allies who can protect you.

 

Yeah I played that. Usually I scoff at tutorials. This one I felt mixed annoying easy ideas while totally ignoring the importance of things like items, lol. As for the custom game, I'll try that again. I thought I'd set it up properly before, but it stuck me with several human players. I'll try again. I can see why this is so addictive.

Hotshot is commentating the dramamatch of team dignatas(+matt marcou) against chicks dig elo (american members of tsm and clg, so saintvicious chauster reginald xspecial and dyrus) for the american spot at wcg.

Currently tied at 1-1 and doing picks/bans, worth watching especially for hotshots hilarious commentary

 

I watched the livestream for about half an hour, and stopped when CDE let dignitas get baron. It seemed pointless watching after that. Good commentary though.

On an unrelated note, what's with people focusing tanks over squishy ranged carries and mages? I understand tanks are constant threats, but in my last game, three players on my team decided to focus Rammus instead of Tristana and Brand. Am I missing some key part of LoL, or did I have a bad team?

 

Bad team

People focus tanks because tanks are A. The first to go in, so people get tunnel vision on them. Secondarily, because yes they are a constant threat.

Also, Rammus has one hell of a nasty taunt. Forcing you to attack. Like Shen, but, you know, tanky.

 

I've been playing a while (~1 year, on and off), and I'm still surprised how stupid people can be. Maybe I'm more aware of squishies, because I've mained Irelia for a while now, but you'd think that people would learn?

I hope ranked's matchmaking is better than the matchmaking for normal games, because there's huge variance in skill across a team nearly every game.

 

I don't do ranked, but from what I've heard ranked has a pretty nasty elo gap where you get stuck with all the bads who play ranked because they want to be a bamf but suck ass at the game. Thus, you get stuck with teams full of people who don't have the skill to push past the 'elo hell,' meaning every game is a crap shoot on whether you're getting all bads or maybe a couple good players.

This might be an exaggeration. People who actually play ranked can inform you (and me).

 

Sounds like the best time to start playing ranked, then.

Also, I've been main-ing Morgana lately. She's survivable, does good damage, pushes like a pro, and has fair CC.

Pair her with flash for mobility and ignite for finishing power...

What's not to love?

Will people bitch at me for using her in ranked matches? I read somewhere she gets banned alot.

Just lost my first Ranked cause their Kassadin was an effing beast. He didn't really kill me, but he fought off a couple badly done ganks, and from that point forward just jaunted around the map ganking people.

Most people who play LoL don't participate in ranked. 65% of ranked players fall within 1000-1400 elo, so if you are in that elo you end up playing with a wide variety of players. But, if you belong in 1500 elo, you will get to 1500 elo. If you don't belong in 1500 elo and you get to 1500 elo, you will sink back down.
