You fought shitty champions, bro. MF has very slightly more damage than Ashe when to comes to straight-up fights, Teemo does nothing to Yorick, Shaco's worthless late-game, and Singed can't kill Yorick ghouls fast enough to stop the 35% damage/defense increase.

If you fight a Riven, Udyr, Nasus, or even Olaf at top, you become their bitch.

 

Yorick is about as OP as you can get for top lane. Only problem is he scales off pretty hard towards late game, and unless who you are facing someone dumb and got fed, he doesn't do much damage either. Nasus probably a pretty strong counter for Yorick, since he can just Q your ghouls and still get the bonus. Riven doesn't really beat Yorick in lane, but since Yorick can't beat her either, that's already a problem. Olaf, :/ I think Yorick can win that lane actually. I dunno, I haven't used Olaf enough to make a comment. But I can't seem to see Yorick losing unless he keeps getting hit by the axe or something. Either way, besides those champs, Yorick counters most champs at top lane.

There is one solution though to Yorick's problem with late game. Your AD carry should be fed. If I was the Yorick, I would just tell the Jungler to focus bot and try to get that lane and fed as possible. An ult from Yorick on AD carry is too good.

 

Olaf doesn't give a shit about harass since he can just lifesteal it all back with W. Udyr's in the same boat except he has mass AOE to counter-push. Lee has the AOE and Lifesteal too, but to a much smaller degree.

Riven can actually kill Yorick since she can easily evade ghouls and just shield off damage. She also has the AOE power to finish ghouls quickly and negate Yorick's passive.

Soraka does an admirable job of stopping Yorick from pushing. Heimer is in the same boat.

Basically, champs that stop or negate Yorick at bot in Dom will stop him cold at top too.

@Red: I want to punch you in the face since those troll lulu builds are the reason I've been losing matches as MF. I can't go a single damn game as her without a lulu herapderp fucking up the lane by running "AD/AS" lulu or "Not supporting" lulu.

Hmm new runes, will be awesome with Anivia. Kinda weird that they haven't updated her in ages...

 

Yeah, I feel as though the new runes will make burst mages even stronger. Whereas before you could build up a bit of MR and survive through Le Blanc's early game, it's harder to do so now. Same thing with poking champions, making it harder to shrug off pokes (less sustain too). Go Heimerdinger!

Burst counters regen. Regen counters harass. Harass counters bulk. Bulk counters burst.


I think this needs to be said.

 

That said, most 'Bulk' have pretty decent 'Regen' built too...

 

That's the entire reason AD carries exist. .75 CD 300 damage harass can't be out-healed.

vs

Mid Veigar, Soraka + AD Kogmaw, Jungle Tanky AP Cho, Top AP Nunu



We all got shit on by AP Nunu until we started bursting his ass down immediately every fight.



Second round was same group except tragic got his roomie in for a 5-man:

Mid Annie (Shezza), Jungle Udyr (Tragcic's roomie), Duo bot Naut (me) + Ezreal (Tragic), Top AD Poppy

vs

Mid Ryze (Failed hard), Duo Bot double Heal Trist + Janna (Still died enough and let Ez free farm), Jungle Mundo (Actually was a PITA and killed us a ton in team fights), and Top Wukong (All of 97 wins and was kicking Poppy's ass with Mundo constant support)



Game was lulz because we couldn't do shit to Mundo and Wukong until like 30 minutes into the game. Fuckers were way tanky. Still nothing to mass chain CC from Naut + Annie + Udyr + double Randuin's + Fheart + Reverie at late game.

 

That Tristana was 1922 elo too. But she basically had no presence throughout the game.



My Soraka assists op! Although still, I really don't think Hextech Gunblade works well with Ezreal at all. That spellvamp is all but unnoticeable, and while it strengthens your W a bit, it's really not significant enough (especially by the time you get Gunblade, enemy should have a fair bit of MR). It's also ridiculously expensive, and getting a Bloodthirster usually just works better (since Q's procs life steal). Just my opinion though.

 

Yeah, but if that Trist came within 900 pixels of me, she'd get ult'd, chained, exhausted, randuin'ed, snared, slowed, stunned, stunned, stunned, and slaughtered before she could even contribute and I was within the melee most fights.

That Gunblade is because it adds to all my damage, which for a skill spammer, is pretty significant. I only needed a lot of auto damage at the end when we had to take out tanky as hell Chogath, but my skills contributed to most of my damage during the team fights we had since we needed burst big-time.

It's also a guaranteed slow + pocket nuke, which means I can help chase a lot better and let Shezza catch up to slow even more.

 

I don't think I see a lot of people top playing Jarvin. He basically hard counters the tanky top meta, and his end-game is pretty good. Admittedly, his ult is defeated by flash, but knowing when to ult is a part of game. Besides, forcing a flash from ult isn't too bad a trade. Especially since he's so good at punishing players who are out of position. With his Q and E+ult range, you can really punish a straggler or create a gank. I see his weakness with a mostly melee team, but i've had insane ganks with him in dominion by Kassadin and Heimer bottom.

 

^ Because lots of idiots fail at using Jarvan. It's like why few people use Riven. Amazing champ that most players are shit with.
