Doubt she's better than SucroseC6, so she'll remain my bug catcher

 

Coming from MMOs with mature theorycrafting communities, I always get so frustrated with the analysis of new characters in Genshin.

From everything I've seen atm, Yoimiya is not balanced. I wish people would stop using that fucking term to describe her. They seem to be using 'balanced' in lieu of 'not as broken as Ganyu and Ayaka.'

That's not what balanced means. Balance as a concept is dictated by the game and the other characters in it.

Yoimiya basically only does single target damage, and that single target damage is lower than AoE specialists' single target damage. That is not balanced.

Balanced would be this situation: 'Yeah, Yoimiya hits like a truck. On a single-target training dummy simulation, she outperforms everyone by almost 20% but that is balanced because she has absolutely no AoE potential.'

The reverse argument can be made in terms of balance regarding Childe. His single target is heavily meh, but he's balanced because in clumped up AoE situations, he's a god.

I'm feeling similar levels of frustration with her weapon comparisons. Specifically the Rust R5 vs Skyward Harp R1-4 comparisons. People are making this observation while operating under the fantasy that they can also get 60/160+ crit stats while still using Rust.

Unless we're talking Cryo units with the Strayer set, until we're allowed to roll crit stats on the sands piece, atk% weapons are at such a huge disadvantage given how powerful crit stats are - especially as they get higher and in relation to each other (crit% only gets more valuable the higher critD% is etc).

Instead I see comparisons made where they literally swap out Rust and Harp and keep the crit substats the same. Or they perform the test with really low crit rates to keep it 'fair.'

Ugh.


This analysis is made by someone who sucks at math and is just feeling grouchy by looking at analysis that makes no logical sense to him. Take everything I say with a truckload of salt. Salt being the operative keyword.

 

I've seen a video where the crit rate with Harp was 106% and people in the comments were saying that was fair. Same artifacts, so obviously it's fair. I just left.

 

She's pretty low end to mid tier with the comps and artifact sets we have now. But as soon as we have a ranged Bennet and a ranged cryo turret unit that has 100% uptime on cryo, allowing Yoimiya (and Yanfei dps mains) to always trigger big fat melts every two seconds, I think people will start seeing her worth.

Right now her only viable partner is C6 Fischl overload spam, Sucrose, and to a lesser degree, Mona for vapes.

Trying to set up a Childe/Beidou + eventually Baal team. Farming the 20 oceanid hearts I need for the last Childe ascension is just so depressing of a thought.

 

I think I'm really excited for Baal Overload. It's unfortunate we can't melt/vape her burst (which is probably why the scaling is so ridiculous).

The only reason I pulled Yoi is because I foresee her, Baal, electro mc working pretty well together with Baal and Yoi buffing each other and giving each other off-field support, electro MC batterying them. Sucrose for EMbuff/dpsbuff/rez shred or Bennet for heals after that.

 

Remember when people, some in this thread (I see you all), were like 'Meh. Baal is lame. I don't like her.'

Then she pulls a sword out of her tits...

 

No I still hate her design. It is bland af compared to the Archon design they teased, and I am still disappointed she's reskinned Mei sans glorious Mei hair. I'm keeping a reserve of 2400 crystals so I can get her a skin as soon as one becomes available.

Her story and kit is what's grabbing my attention (and also admittedly, the booba sword, albeit only being a minor impetus).

I dunno if I'll fuck with Theatre Mexhanicus this time round.

I was thoroughly over it when it finished last time. The mode was too slow...

 

I’m kinda torn about Theatre Mechanicus. On one hand, it’s something that’s meant as an equalizer, allowing a player of any AR to participate fully.

Cool, but not really applicable to me. On the other and more relevant hand, the grind is pain. I guess I’ll have fun trying to use anemo chars to fuck with the mechanics, but they might’ve patched that after last time.

 

The year is 2049 and I'm still fucking waiting for Mihoyo to delete my PSN Genshin account so I can link to my PC account.

Wish I could get Sayu, she looks super fun, but can't risk getting Yoimiya. Waiting for next time

 

I like Theater Mechanicus, but the new Fortune Stick Thing is literal cancer. Having to micromanage them and your constructs while enemies are rushing you is just awful. I want it to go back to the old system.

 

Honestly? It's easy enough it at least makes the rounds go faster for me.

For 1-3 i put down sancs surrounded by hydro/electro towers while rolling for pyro upgrades (particularly meteor). And buffing electro

The only reason that changed for fourth is no hydro or electro cards, so just went melt.

I only let in 2 enemies on the third map while mindlessly gacha rolling lol..

 

I risked a 10 roll for Sayu at 60/90, ended up getting sayu, yoimiya and c2'd my jean in the order. All off 1 10 roll. Didn't want Yoimiya either but at least Jean came after Yoimiya so I still got next pity for Baal.

 

At this point I feel like I'm just being mean to a character I actually like (non gameplay wise) but:

Given the investment here... am i crazy in thinking 'thoroughly meh'?

I'm not even sure she out dpses my c0 Eula... or my c2 Xiao (who's jacked af tbf, but all his damage is in a huge aoe)..

I have my fingers crossed that she dovetails with boobasword perfectly, but even still... despite what the mihoyo stans are saying, we only had a reaction like this to Zhongli before, and we know what happened there.
