What would be the easiest way to make money in the muggle world with wizarding abilities? By easiest, I mean both least likely to get you into legal trouble and requiring relatively low level of magical ability (so no conjuring precious metals).

We could also file this topic under "why Remus Lupin and the Weasleys should have new clothes."

The easiest way I can think of using spells from canon is making trips to the junkyard, applying reparo, and reselling the fixed items...

The muggle banks wouldn't. You pay in the fake money, which seems genuine because it's conjured. It goes into your account. You then go to a different branch, or the same branch later and take out all the money. You don't get the same actual money back but you still get the same sum.

 

Hm I think it should be difficult to conjure muggle money, on know with all the hollograms and all.

None of them are legal. I'm sure the leaders of the muggle world with knowledge of the magical world have to have some sort of truce/treaty with each other. And you're not allowed to swindle muggles, confound them, "misuse muggle artifacts" etc...

But hell, you could apparate into Fort Knox, confound a bank teller (cash a faked check, make her think hundred dollar bills are pennies, or something), steal all sorts of items. Use leprechaun's gold at a pawn shop.

Although, probably the most fun and agreeable to all parties involved would be to steal a few hairs from Brad Pitt or George Clooney or whoever. Polyjuice yourself and charge a few thousand a lay down at a sorority house.

I would think that any reserve or treasury that was run by the goverment would have wards all over it. The goverments know about their magical counterparts, you'd figure they had things set up to keep monuments, museums, banks and treasures secure.

 

I dunno about conjuring muggle money. They all have serial numbers, and i'm pretty sure a bank would look at them before even agreeing to do something like that.

In any case, i'm pretty sure banks don't usually allow you to bring in a suitcase full of cash and create a bank account. They'll check the trail of money to see that you didn't launder or counterfeit it. Plus, they'll ask you all sorts of irritating questions about whether the IRS or whatever tax authorities know about the money you're carrying.

That would take a few well placed, and illegal, imperius curses, compulsions, obliviates and coufounding charms.

My opinion? Put on a magic show at Vegas. Do all sorts of crazy stuff like conjuring birs and killing children. Hell, if you dabble in necromancy, you can even bring them back to life, although that isn't reccomended.

Bah! Conjuring takes too much energy. Take a dollar bill, and convert it into a 100$ bill. Similar size, made from the same material. It should work. I don't know.
