Gmail and GoogleTalk

    I use Gmail, but I do not have googletalk installed and have no interest in using it. Still, people have started IMing me when I open my gmail account through some, I suppose, integration of the two services google has made. Is there any way I cant set myself permanently invisible for that, or disable that integration, so I can check my email in peace?

    At the bottom left corner of the chat box you should see "Options." Click options, then "sign out."

    In Gmail, where it says available, you can click it and set yourself to invisible as well. I do that so that people will leave me the fuck alone on Gmail. Although, the only thing I use Gmail for is SMS.

    Also under Options->Chat setting you can set "Only allow people that I've explicitly approved to chat with me and see when I'm online". That should do the trick permanently.
