    When the martial arts are introduced to HP world, it's usually isn't done properly. We either read the story where Harry Potter becomes a black belt after a couple of month, or his proficiency is mentioned but forgotten as the story continues, or we see the unrealistic feats like killing Trolls via Karate chops.

    I'd like to see the story with the realistic portrayal of martial arts, when they can be helpful, but effective only at close range, don't replace magic as a heroes' primary weapon, and the training takes years.

    I personally think a wuxia-Harry Potter fic would be a lot more interesting. Like if Harry Potter had been trained by the Beggar's Sect in martial arts and mystical powers.

    This doesn't matter. So long as it's done quickly enough most readers will accept some amount of suspension of disbelief in the opening chapter if it's required to set up a fic. Alternatively the author could skip showing us how it happened at all and start in the middle of things with a passing phrase about the past.

    Wuxia!Harry would be interesting, sure. But it'd be damned hard to write well.

    I'm in general a fan of... not so much martial arts wizards, but wizards using their bodies to do more than stand around and fire spells while sometimes running about.

    I.e. Distract someone and punch them. You don't need a lot of martial arts training to throw a punch. To throw a solid punch, maybe, but just to punch someone? Get inside their guard? I like the idea.
