My friend and I are looking to start writing our own story, complete with new world and everything that encompasses.

I've been looking at designing maps and the world and found this website: http://donjon.bin.sh/

There are lots of useful tools on here, such as the fantasy world generator, found here.

When constructed it gives you a good, detailed map, with rivers, cities, castles, forests and mountains:

You get a better, closer view on the website.

There is also a demographic's calculator.

There is plenty more useful tools on here to help with world building.

Yea, it is pretty fun to make the new worlds, and they even give them names incase you can't think of your own. Most of them are pretty decent.

We are going to use Menosea, which was the name it gave to the world it created for us. It even had a druids grove which was pretty handy seen as they star in our story.

An interesting idea I found on /tg/ for making custom maps is to go outside, find some paint that's peeling off a wall and take a picture of it. Then use the various holes/painted areas as the basis for your map.
