After I heard about the movie based on Fantastic Beasts, I've considered a different HP Universe story I would much rather see: Grindelwald.

Based on what we know about him from Canon, he is utterly fascinating. As a boy, he was fascinated by the Deathly Hallows and eventually wielded the Elder Wand. As a young man, he met Dumbledore. He ruled Europe for some six years, before Dumbledore could be convinced to fight his former friend. The duel between the two was absolutely epic.

This got me further thinking: has anyone successfully attempted a Story that shows what His War would have looked like without resorting to Dumbledore/Grindelwald? As far as I know, the closest that was done was "Für Das Größere Wohl", and even that was more about a Muggle-born Hitler Youth in Durmstrang than Grindelwald's War.

So I ask you, Servants of the Dark Lord, if you have any suggestions on a story that explores Grindelwald and his War? Or does no such story exist?

 

Im, way to slamed and tired tp link, but Altered Destinies by elfdobbylord or somtehing like that has some Grindlewald, and T3t has a bit of him, but more perpheral in Why We Fight.

 

If you're interested, I'm currently working on one that explores him and Dumbledore's history together - from their meeting to their rise to power to their duel. It's currently in WbA as The Last Stand. I also know, other than the ones Rents mentioned - Taure has something similar in Fawkes Gift (also in WbA) though I'm not sure how in depth he's going to go with it, as the story is primarily Harry-centric.

Not a Grindelwald centric story, but features him as a very prominent character. The best story I have ever read in this genre.

I've been so distracted lately, but I am writing on occasion. A few other stories have my muse right now, but I'll definitely put together another chapter of Escape...eventually

 

I'm out of thumbs at the moment kmfrank, so this'll have to do for now, but :awesome.

As to Grindelwald, and I know I'm harping on this continuously, but A Stranger in the Promised Land had one hell of a kickass Grindelwald, and it showed what might have happened had Dumbledore lost his duel. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I felt compelled to mention it.
